Re: Random deleted chunks

Are you able to replicate this with, say, a backup of your world? Maybe even stick a SSP world in there and see if it does the same thing? Does starting a new world end up causing the same problem? Have you tried installing BTW in a completely fresh 1.5.2 jar instead of (for example) overwriting the...

Re: Better Than Wolves Installed and working in new Launcher

My experience with the new launcher is that the fresh 1.5.2 version it downloaded had this line for minecraftArguments: "minecraftArguments": "${auth_player_name} ${auth_session} --gameDir ${game_directory} --assetsDir ${game_assets}", The --assetsDir parameter stopped the game f...

That is a fine barn you've built. I'd share mine but it's shit. You've encouraged me to build a better one :)

Re: Version 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH Hints/Help Request (MILD SPOILE

THANK you! That's been driving me nuts :)

Now I see it, the new recipe does make sense and therefore easy to remember for next time.

I was indeed thinking along the same lines as the item frame that surrounds the leather with sticks/moulding as well, so it feels a teeny weeny bit inconsistent.

Re: Does anyone else use stakes?

Some potential uses: - early waypoint marking - poking loose blocks e.g. when traversing desert, as it will collapse them if they're unstable, and thereafter for marking a safe path (I wonder if anyone is patient enough for this? I just take the risk) - waypoint marking for caving, though this seems...

Re: Embargo Lifted! (Open Early Game Discussion)

The change to torches was long overdue. It's something else to consider when choosing a place for a base. With no possibility to build a skylight that's high enough to stop mobs falling in, one risks mobs spawning in the darkness whilst out gathering resources. Light has become a rather precious res...

High efficiency ladder recipe

I can't craft ladders with the high efficiency recipe, i.e. moulding in an H shape. Tried filling the gaps with what you would use with the normal (post-AAAAAHHHH) recipe, but no cigar. Intentional? Do I need glue or something?

Re: Nether mob in overworld? [spoiler?]

Well I mean the portal is some way away from my base, even though there is clearly nothing to worry about - only just about viewable in the distance. What was surprising was coming home (it was night), shutting the door, managing my inventory, getting back to my knitting, and discovering a magma sli...

Nether mob in overworld? [spoiler?]

... the heck? I came back from my first nether adventure post-AAAAHHHH, got back to base, and heard the distinctive fapping of a slime outside. Given that I don't live anywhere near a swamp, this made me nervous as I was already nearly dead and I've underestimated slimes many a time. Turns out a mag...

I noticed that in 4.A Dingo, but considering the latest wood door change, thought there might have been an earlier recipe for trapdoors again, still, now I know.

Re: Version 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH Hints/Help Request (MILD SPOILE

Is there no way early game to craft a wooden fence (and gate) or a trapdoor? Have tried many combinations of sticks and strings and whatnot, and seems a bit odd that you can craft a door but not a trapdoor. Feels like I'm missing something obvious

I'm pre-saw stage so the best I have is the iron axe.

Re: Vazkii removes a config option from his mod, hilarity en

I remember a point where BTW stopped becoming a mix of new tech blocks and miscellaneous changes (sorry if that seems like rather an understatement) into where it became a true survival experience with the addition of hardcore modes. It's like it found it's place in the world, so to speak. That para...

If you're going for a wither farm... Just saying, since you mention you've not explored ...

Thanks for the tips! I've managed to come up with a dastardly mix of both tripwire and pressure plate design. Hard to describe. Yeah I had the same problem, unless you stack them directly on top of each other (i.e. to make use of fall damage) then it won't work like that

Re: HC slime stories & discussion [spoilers]

Has anyone tried breaking the slimes down into globlets and then hitting the lot of them with splash potions or dynamite? Perhaps a bit overkill but what else are you going to do with those splash damage weapons - now there's an excuse. Slime hunting as a sport sounds like a lot more fun with the ne...

Love the new animal changes. I had a small pig pen prior to updating, went to expand it leaving a gap in the fence... and lo and behold, all the pigs escape in panic, over the hills and far away. Cue Benny Hill moment with me running about with a potato I happened to have in my hotbar trying to roun...

Nether piston pigman trap

I've been trying to work out how to make an inexpensive, vertically stackable piston pusher pyramid trap thing for farming gold swords. I could do this with repeaters and in a more compact fashion, but the addition of a clock in the crafting recipe for them makes them prohibitivly expensive so I'd r...
