Im thinking about leaning away from chat warnings and using a visual representation, simply because nobody really wants to see a wall of text.

EDIT: Just to let you guys know I am far more out of practice than i realized. So I am brushing up my skills before I attempt this.

Well of course, I have to leave to get what i consider to be necessary,; however, this just adds to the enjoyment of the game. What I consider necessary really isnt a requirement tho.

The point is that to get all these resources you have to leave the establishment. Which means time spent outside, away from your base, not inside your base being productive. Really? on my new world I traveled an hour from spawn and collected what I needed - saplings mushrooms ect and an hr back kil...

The new style of play seems to demand an awful lot of time (and patience) to advance to the 'real' building stage (esp. large scale automation), the part I find most rewarding. i would suggest only tilling what you can plant. Also put up fencing to protect your plants, I believe animals and mobs can crush them.

I think what he meant by that was that if say you were in a ravine with many overhangs and a suicidal creeper moves for the kill, falling off the ledge. Don't forget sounds they make when they get hurt... Creepers won't make a sound while stalking you, but sometimes they chase you, fall behind you and get hurt, and the hiss gives them away... The point of this mod is to alert steve to a mobs presence - If you are running from a mob you already know...

Panda your TP seems to be missing the stage 1 pumpkin seedling. I planted and had no visual, checked it with no tp installed and there is a seedling. its no big deal but thought you might want to know.

I dont even attempt to go to the nether until Ive got a full base set up with farms and small mob trap going and then only when I need blaze rods. Nothing more frightening than a ball of fire being spewed out of the darkness with no warning...lol

I definitely want to avoid indicating mob type. I think I will look at tying the visual cues into sound as FC suggested may be possible. As far as creepers, I'm am thinking about using a countdown for the duration of their fuse.
