Fixing a Map Mistake
Hey, I accidentally opened a map in the wrong place while working on my map wall, and I was trying to find a way to recover it. I was browsing around for vanilla MC solutions, but I'm getting the impression maps have been changed since our version. If anything it might be nice to have a less-than-fu...

Re: Soylent (But not green)
Anyway, what about the financial aspect, does it save you money? Not particularly. If we're talking homemade lunches, you can get a pretty balanced meal for about $1.50 if you spend it right, and make things from scratch. It technically does if you consider that I make 400 calories of that stuff la...

Re: Soylent (But not green)
Lol, sounds like you guys should read some ancient philosophers. I tried it out for the last few days, and it is seriously blegh. It doesn't have any taste but the hint of rice milk and some kind of chalky texture, but that goes away if you mix it like crazy. Definitely drink it with tons of ice, an...

Re: Windows 10
I got it a while back, and frankly, all I remember is that all the things about Windows 8 that bugged me were just gone. My friend says that he's had a bad time with some newer graphics cards (as of like 2 weeks ago) but I haven't seen it. It stays out of my way, really. No weird popups, I turned of...

Soylent (But not green)
So I found an actually really chill foodstuff called Soylent, and for some reason it made me think of BTW. Not sure why. https://www.soylent.com/ I just ordered my first bag of the powder, and honestly, I have no idea what it's going to taste like. Have any of you guys had it? I know we all make jok...

Re: Optimal Melon Farm Layout
Thanks for all the responses - I looked at the wiki, and Epsilon's right, the number of free spaces does affect spawning. I think I'm going to test out this format here, which is like a staggered form of Dawnraider's idea. Basically, the idea is to make it so that every 2 melons only have 2 availabl...

Optimal Melon Farm Layout
Soooooo I'm starting a fairly large outpost that I want to have a decent supply of melons growing at, for insurance purposes. So far I've fairly absentmindedly laid out my melon farms like this: m = melon s = soil mssmssm mssmssm and so on. I've thought about changing it to something like a checkerb...

Re: A... Cave Anomaly? [Spoilers]
Its probably a surface ravine/pit intersecting the mineshaft- looks like it lines up with a regular cave on the other side too. Chances are this is normal generation- MC does some fairly cool stuff when things line up. Oh. I totally, y'know, walked a few feet in and looked up. Uhh, durr. Hurr durr....

http://i.imgur.com/0FPUjMS.png Wh.... Wh... How? I've only been here at night, so it is SO possible that it just has a view of the sun, but... I see a spawner or something across the darkness? Anyone seen anything like this? Edit: This is 2nd strata, in an abandoned mineshaft. Found it like 10 minu...

Re: First Iron Tool: Pick or Hoe?
So I finally got that final iron, and made a pick. Very pleased. I actually had a brief stint of strip-mining in the middle stratus for some stone/iron, got some shears, and started collecting oysters. Gonna get some cows, now that I have leather armor, gonna be unnecessarily ballsy. So far, pleased...

First Iron Tool: Pick or Hoe?
I'm just coming up on 3 iron bars in my current area, and I'm really starting to wonder whether it is worth it to make a pick to start. I haven't seen this as a topic since the changes to seeds, so I figured I'd poll around for an idea. My reasoning so far is that the pick won't do me much good; I e...

Re: Efficient Animal Killing Pits
It occurs to me that as an abuse of hooves, mixing cows with other animals could have them slaughter everything else for you. Have not tried it. I tried that, actually. I'd need to make the pit a little deeper to make good use of it. Pigs, literally, fly. I have an idea, though. If I make a pit wit...

Efficient Animal Killing Pits
Recently, I've started using a new method of animal-killing on hunting trips that saves a lot of fat from my heiney. 4x4x2 Genocide pits! I go to an area, right about at the middle of the inevitable group of animals, and I start pushing them, gingerly, into a pit. I imagine once I finally get some s...

Jimquisition and Shrimp
Ok, I've gotten into Jimquisition recently, and I saw, at first, one. Just one. One shrimp. I thought it was supposed to be off-key. Y'know, random things in game footage. I watched another one of his videos from a year prior. Seriously, why shrimp? What the shrimp? Wherefore shrimp? Is it a prawn? ...

I have plans to make a shrine of Golden Pickaxes on a carved sandstone pillar near a mine sometime. It would be glorious. Y'know, someday.

Re: Notch buys $70 million dollar mansion
'Course... we all sort of do that in one way or another... :D *snip* With my limited experience with wealthy people (and nowhere close to that scale), the one thing I've noticed is that people tend to behave much as they did before but in an exaggerated manner and on a larger scale, and that ultima...

I am the Sorcerer of Lies! Nah really 70 games on steam and growing as of now. Btw buy Endless Legend if you love Civ5 but think Beyond Earth a little to tame. It has a great quest system and very well woven RPG elements integrated in the turn-based combat. Its world is as interesting as Civ5's pse...

Re: What infrastructure do you focus on?
I have none really yet, but I have plans to make a railway system, where you can go to various stations, store minecarts in the stations (so you could use the design on multiplayer) and have main train stations around the world. And maybe use pigs, I dont know. Has anyone tried to use pigs as a reg...

What infrastructure do you focus on?
I always build roads. Everywhere. By day three I'm occasionally challenging wolves and making paths through forests, tundra forests, plains, mountains, etc. And bridges.
