Re: World Coruption and PC-shutdown
My money is on this : Your laptop overheated, thus causing both problems. They're obviously related, what are the chances that your computer would shutdown right when minecraft starts failing for a totally non-related reason ? Explication : I've had many computers overheat right in front of me (beca...

Re: RTS Game Design Question: Upkeep to complex?
There is no "wind" though and the units are manoeuvring automatic into fire direction. But since they can push each other and explosions do push units too, setting up a decent fire-line is still a task. From the Europa Universalis thread : actually, your space ships could be solar-powered...

Re: Request for Craftguide equivalent without Modloader
Many thanks for the info, as I do not browse the vanilla MC forums. Looking forward to it :)
I guess the thread doesn't need any answer anymore, though it will answer the inquiries of people like me searching on the BTW forums.

Hardcore spawning on the same spot
As per title, I just started a world; I start on a small island. I die, and respawn in a forest during the night. I die again because of monsters roaming around, and again several times after that, and I notice that I always get back on the same tree in the same forest, because the zombie that kille...

Request for Craftguide equivalent without Modloader
As per title, I present to any and all benevolent java coders a task that has arisen from FC's move from ModLoader dependency : would any of you be interested in making an equivalent to the "Craftguide" add-on ? ( link ) I'm fond of its efficient interface; its main purpose is to allow the...

Re: Let's Play with Flowerchild
snip I don't think that's an entirely inappropriate way of dealing with these kinds of things (it seems to work for me anyways), but one on one is an entirely different situation where I feel like I can just talk as I normally would. IMHO, one on one is the way to go. Entertaining masses is totally...

Re: Let's Play with Flowerchild
Well it felt really good to hear you talk about the mod like that for a change, instead of being mister I-know-what-I'm-doing because, well, if you behaved otherwhise you'd get all the stupid suggestions clogging your mail box. I like the recorded video medium because you get to talk, and we don't g...

Fallen London
is an internet browser game, which'll see you walk the streets of Fallen London, a 19th century-ish London that has, well, fallen through the ground and that now rests in gigantic caverns heated by subterran volcanoes. Or are those giants that periodically belch magma ? No one really knows. Sell you...

You suddenly just made my hopes for this series rise through the roof. You better not disappoint me now, teasy sir. Like, you know, I'd be so friggin mad if those videos weren't at least as good as the story of Boatmurdered.

Actually it's kind of cute coming from the much-despised, many times hated and names-called thick-skinned dude the legends says you are :p keep up the stupid language habits, it's what makes you human, and not a mindless machine who also happens to be very obnoxious to every poster of the suggestion...

Re: Let's Play with Flowerchild
I am counfounded by this video. I can't believe that a person of quality like FC is affected by that "you know, like" madness. Like, you know, everytime he says something. ;o Really great to hear the master clarify his plans, and I look forward to seeing him be the butt of his own hardcore...

Re: If the world were perfect...
I was saying "I'm not much of a survival player" according to vanilla MC's survival, which IMO brings only monsters to the addition, thus combat, since food really isn't a problem in vanilla. Please excuse me for the confusion. I do think your changes to survival mode are making it a true ...

Re: If the world were perfect...
Well, I doubt very many would argue that the result wouldn't be a heck of a lot of fun, if BTB was any indication. If I may speak my own mind about BTB : I think BTB was actually an okay material for another kind of gameplay. I personally liked the automated mining machines, mainly because I'm not ...

Re: A few questions Id like addressed mainly regarding wolfa
Those are vanilla questions which have nothing to do in the BTW section of the forum; no, FC didn't fuck up the nether portal mechanics even more than they are already. For nether portals mechanics, I'll point you there , though don't answer that post since it'd be necro. You should check the change...

Re: depriving MC of internet connection
Also, you can use MultiMC to play minecraft, which allows on one hand to have several versions of minecraft in a different folder that the stupid "application data/.minecraft" stuff, and on the other hand it has a little button called "play offline" that works wonders. Now, the &...

No worries - everything you need to know should be in the post, you don't actually have to navigate through the mess that is the minecraft wiki. Ask away if you tried something and it didn't go as planned.

Re: Question about nether portals
The mechanics are : A portal from the overworld will go to its coordinates in the nether, meaning its overworld coordinates/8, and check for a nether portal in 128 blocks around that position. If none exist, it'll create one. A portal from the nether will go to its coordinates in the overworld, mean...

For all the lurkers and the not often seen member of this forum, The reason why so many of us watch but don't openly participate may be fear of the banhammer... or it may in fact be respect. Re: Share your villager housing technology!
I call this the desert villager hole. It's basically houses cramped into a hole, with a wall around it. Villagers may try to leave. But they won't. Ever.
Also they don't have any accomodation. They just make do with what I throw into the pit. Har har har !

I just love the idea of somehow using music in minecraft; in any game, in fact. There's so much visual and so few music in videogames nowadays :(

Ocarina of time mod
This little guy is a cute, moderately unbalancing mod, as at the moment it allows for removing rain, changing night to day, and healing. These powers are obtained through using your movement keys in a new GUI that actually plays the ocarina when you hit the keys. There's only five notes, but hey, *...

Re: How to protect villagers from zombie sieges ?
I did have ender spectacles and check it all. Might have missed the stairs, though. They were connecting the roofs from above, forming arches. I built them afterwards and thought the light from the houses' walls right under them would be enough, but it seems I was wrong. That's my best bet; I'll che...

Re: How to protect villagers from zombie sieges ?
Do they ? Well, then I'm dumbfounded about how they rampaged through my village. I'm one hundred percent certain it was completely lit, slabbed and walled. I'd make you a few screenshots if I hadn't died and respawned kilometers away ;o In fact, it was a hole with a wall around it, completely slabbe...

Re: How to protect villagers from zombie sieges ?
As said in the OP, the village was perfectly lit; also I had a gigantic wall all around it, such as that no creeps could even see the villagers from outside. Is blocking the doors worth it, since zombies can also spawn inside the houses regardless of light level and slabs ?

How to protect villagers from zombie sieges ?
As per title; my perfectly slabbed, perfectly lit village just got zombie zerg rushed, and I couldn't do much more than fight and die along with my people. Since there is no more iron golems, how can you effectively protect a village ? Should you build traps that kill zombies but not villagers ? Zom...
