Re: Exposed spoilers will bring swift death. The Force Awake

One thing I liked about this movie was how much "show, don't tell" it used; a lot of things are cleverly explained without being explicitly shown. For example: R2D2 got the map from Luke. Rey's force-induced flashback shows Luke with R2, presumably shortly before he left. If you think abou...

Re: Steam Sales

~shrug~ I mostly play solo mode, or with friends, so I don't really care about "falling behind" compared to the rest of the playerbase. Means I don't feel the need to shell out for the expansion unless it promises delivers something I am actually interested in. :)

Re: Steam Sales

I'm having fun with it. It definitely has some steep learning curve, and the combat tutorial does not teach you everything you need to know (Roll and pitch, never yaw; keep your engines in the blue zone; constantly adjust power levels...), not to mention the important non-combat stuff it doesn't eve...

Re: Steam Sales

I doubt there is anyone here who doesn't already own it, but Terraria is 66% off right now. EDIT: Since I've been eyeballing Elite:Dangerous for a while, I decided to look over the negative reviews to see if any of them will talk me out of buying it. Stumbled across this in one review: "...The ...

Re: Brown Mushrooms

I don't tend to worry about mushrooms until late game in any case - I find the amount of room they need to grow annoying, and I tend to rush ham and eggs. Since I'm also pretty lazy about feeding my chickens as much as I could, I spend most of my eggs on that; I don't think I've ever used mushroom o...

Re: [SPOILERS] Hardcore Hunger for Wolves

Besides which, wolves != dogs... and I'm pretty sure re-taming a feral wolf that you had somehow managed to tame in the first place (what do they even put in those bones..?) is not going to be as simple as retraining a dog...

Re: are pre-wheat pigs worth the cost?

Honestly I've mostly given up trying to anticipate what your changes will be. You are brilliant, and come at problems from directions I never would think of. I couldn't begin to guess what changes you are going to make to chicken breeding, for example - I see the problem you have laid out, but I hav...

Re: are pre-wheat pigs worth the cost?

I apologize for my assumptions.

I still dislike the growth mechanic on mushrooms, but when you explain it that way I completely understand the point.

Re: are pre-wheat pigs worth the cost?

Glad to hear mushroom farming is being tweaked, I'm definitely in the group of not being a fan of the current mechanics. In our current world, we held off farming mushrooms until we had mycellium and then just dug out a huge room. But if I hadn't looked up the exact growth rules to determine the spa...

Re: are pre-wheat pigs worth the cost?

I got potatoes before carrots, and have completely switched over to steak and potatoes from ham and eggs. Other than the work of killing cows, it's much easier to produce in large numbers. Potatoes can be easily produced WAY faster than eggs, especially with planters. And wheat is easier to produce ...

Re: Hang in there Notch (Being ultra rich and lonely)

So... Notch needs to install the IRL version of BTW? :)

Reading about things like this kinda reinforces to me that I don't think I actually want to be rich... I hate struggling to make ends meet, but if video games have taught me anything it's that struggling is kinda the point...

Re: are pre-wheat pigs worth the cost?

Ham and eggs are pretty much always my go-to early game renewable food source. I find them much less work than setting up a large enough mushroom farm to keep yourself fed, especially pre-crucible. Plus there is something immensely satisfying about seeing all the disparate elements - cow pasture, ch...

Re: This mod is still as awesome as ever!

I got back into BTW recently and am rediscovering how incredibly much fun it is. I've successfully converted my girlfriend and a couple of her friends from vanilla to BTW and we are slowly and painfully clawing our way up the tech tree. If not for BTW, I definitely would have dropped MineCraft ages ...

I'm still worried that they are biting of more than they will ever chew with their end game plans. But looking at the patch notes they have started to implement code to support the whole orbital platform idea, so maybe I will end up eating my words. ...If nothing else, the new version is wonderful j...

Re: Terraria 1.3 Expert Mode Discussion (There be Spoilers!)

We managed to take down Plantera thanks to using a minecart rail. The pregenned rails + the Mechanical Cart are a blessing for that fight - the narrow tunnels and sharp turns means that bouncing spikes are harmless, and you can usually dodge the thorn shots. And the second half is cake, since you ca...

Re: Terraria 1.3 Expert Mode Discussion (There be Spoilers!)

The stormbow was less effective, but the meteor staff was more effective. We managed to take out Skeleton Prime when he jumped us - we didn't even have buff potions. It was close, but MAN the meteor staff does a lot of damage. Also: Unicorns are the best and most awesome way to fight the Twins. Havi...

Re: Terraria 1.3 Expert Mode Discussion (There be Spoilers!)

The Amarok is possibly my new favorite weapon in the entire game. Silly damage, frostburn, and with the yoyo bag you can fight an entire group of enemies without trouble. Plus you can hide in a tiny room and send it out through a one-block hole to kill things from safely. >.> It's useless against ha...

Currently getting destroyed by the Destroyer.

Every buff potion available, four heart statues, greater healing potions, full adamantine armor, ring of myths, 80 defense...

Can't even get him to half health.

I'm not sure I feel like this is even reasonably possible.

Re: Terraria 1.3 Expert Mode Discussion (There be Spoilers!)

Expert Mode is much harder multiplayer than it is single-player. Got a huge wake-up call when the Eye of Cthulhu ~destroyed~ myself and my teammate when we were unprepared for it. Skeletron was also nasty - this was the first time we ever had to make an arena for him. ...Also: Dick move on King Slim...
