Re: Automatic wheat farm, detector block issues?
It could be from partial chunk loading if you're using some sort of edge detection on the output. An alternative in a lot of cases is to hook in a timing signal as an OR with your usually on signal from the detectors. That way, if the drop from powered to not isn't getting to the rest of the circuit...

Re: Show us your builds!
Rain hydrates soil so it's probably only growing during the times when it's hydrated after rain. One could test it by setting up a field in a desert biome.

Re: Building Timers Pre-Anvil
It's possible to use the feed disappearing to trigger a dispenser. Couple with a timer signal OR'd in at the right point before the dispenser, you've got a fully auto feeder that will handle feed shortages and not waste with unfed animals or too much feed. At least as long as you have a short enough...

Ok, I'm still having problems. This time the saw is on the second block, and it still doesn't work... I can hear the saw working on the moment the trap goes off, and then after that is stops, and the skelleton starts to suffocate to death. I made sure to leave space for the skeleton to get into cont...

Well, either you build a new base, or bases, or a massive overworld transportation system, a subway or an el. Either way, you're building something big.

Re: Farming Hats
What I did was dig out at a river an approx 10x15 1 deep water source. Leaving 1 thick of dirt to keep the water from pouring down while digging, I dug out about 5-6 blocks down. On one edge, I dug out the top to create a flow down to a collection channel. You can use a saw or just leave the collect...

Re: What's your door? - Base entrance thread
Is your moat filled or just a pit? Also, how wide is your entry way? Usually just a pit. 1 wide. Because it's only 1 wide, you don't want anything too dangerous/hard to get out of in the pit. And make sure there's no shade in bowshot of the entry. Later, typically transition to a fence or cobblesto...

Re: What's your door? - Base entrance thread
2x2x2 moat (at least) on either side of entrance so no surprise explosions on exit. Then either a fence, wall or just half slab capped dirt above the door, so no surprises from above other than the odd spider. This is early game only, but nice thing is it's easy to build with just a shovel and even ...

Re: Blight: Peoples experience with it.
Blight isn't really a danger unless it matures, and if you look at the requirements for mature blight, you'll see that it's pretty easy to keep it from getting to that stage. Unless you want mature blight for some kind of evil, insane experiment... Is it evil and/or insane to want to unleash it on ...

IIRC, it's rain that turns said plots hydrated which might be why it's so slow. Only growing during and for a short time after rain.

Re: Mob Traps
You don't need 100% coverage with vines. I usually start with 1 trap per 2-4 blocks (I keep it simple with 1 wide beams with 2 gap on either side). You just need enough for them to think there's a way to walk. I have not tested output vs 100% coverage... but when you're first starting out, vine trap...

Re: Confused by the enchanting table
There was talk about increasing the radius for bookshelves so you didn't need to build the box o' book. Does anyone know what came of that? I thought that was the vanilla level nerf along with it not including any of the really nice enchants (fortune, silk touch, etc). Thus, once you have enough bo...

Re: fireworks as signals
If you set it up on a fairly long timer, shooting off fireworks every minute or so, might work for a way to make a respawn base more noticeable in a rugged biome (assuming it's one that's not loaded regularly). That said, the time it would take to build you could probably build a tower way up in the...

My wolves are all locked in a dark hole, but do that weird thing (vMC behavior), where they just suddenly appear alongside you, dozens of blocks away from where they were, still in the sitting position. What I'm thinking happens, either it's the puppy -> wolf transition which can trigger teleport r...

Re: Clay ball recycling builds? [SPOILERS]
I haven't updated yet (waiting on brother), but think I can modify my existing one. Currently, clay balls drop into BD which places and it's piston chained around and up to turntable. By moving BD to other side so now hopper drops clay balls onto ground, then trigger another piston to pack those in ...

Packed dirt slab roads everywhere. The one time I died, I made a dirt road back after getting a compass and have just been expanding them when we get about 10 stacks of packed dirt stored up. Buoys! They are basically the only way to mark a way over water in relative safety now. You see, they are the only blocks I am aware of, that are directly placeable on top of a water block and from there providing a surface to build on. Yeah, but once you've got a block up, you can recollect the li...

They are certainly not rare. My base is in a cleared out jungle biome and I see them running all over the place. Yes, clear out additional space in a jungle biome and you'll have a ton running around. They're more like mobs than animals in that they'll respawn and often, default jungle does not hav...

Re: Auto-kiln build help
I think people are confusing what I meant by that. I don't use a piston; the BD places directly into the kiln. A solid block gets put in the BD to push out pottery (or the last item of ore or wood) into stream/crucible. If the timer gets thrown off by chunk load or whatever, the BD just sucks up the...
