Re: What exactly does vanilla Hardcore change abt the BTW experience?
You can also proactively build infrastructure which helps with recovery as well. This was one of my favorite things about Hardcore Spawn. In the midgame if you find yourself in the mood to go on a big expedition you actually have a reason to explore your world and build outposts and map landmarks. ...

Re: A Message For The Community
BTW and BTSM are my favorite games I've ever played. You have made some truly incredible things, and you deserve to be very proud of what you've accomplished here. I hope whatever comes next lets you find some relief from this stress. Thank you so much for all the years of entertainment and inspirat...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.A9 Pustules Lancing) - NO SPOILERS
Thanks FC! I started a new world after the pumpkin nerf in A7 and I've been loving the way everything is coming together. For the first time in four or so worlds I'm having to really take my time and make use of all the homesteading stuff in the early midgame instead of just rushing for pumpkins aft...

It's the Great Pumpkin Nerf, Charlie Brown!
Really looking forward to seeing how the early game plays now, since I've always rushed for pumpkins and then regretted it because of how cheaty they felt. Thanks, FC!

Re: The Feature Request / Suggestion Thread - LIMITED TIME O
Pumpkins are the OP item. Hemp seed drops are random and pumpkins are always 4 seeds. Maybe make pumpkins seed return random and make melons the more vaulable ones. Seconding this. In the playthrough I started last month, as soon as I found pumpkins the food game was over. Granted, it took a long e...

Re: The Feature Request / Suggestion Thread - LIMITED TIME O
While witches were made to spawn in swamps, mob traps in swamps don't have a hopper, buoyancy, or bellows-based way to filter out several witch drops from other mob drops (creeper oysters and witch wart, bottles and rotten flesh, sticks and bones). While there may be some convoluted and non-obvious ...

Congratulations!!! I love that FC has had such an enormous impact on some of us. I hope that everything works out fantastically for you! And I guess this thread is as good a place to add my own thanks. A while ago I quit my job in order to switch careers into game development, and finally this month...

According to the old patch notes, only jungle spiders drop venom sacks, not cave spiders. You'll need to build a secondary base near a jungle.

Re: Mid-Game Slump
There's definitely a harsh gear change that takes place around that point, which in an ideal world I would prefer to smooth out. It's also always been my goal to include more end-game objectives so that the sense of purpose associated with staying alive in the early game isn't just yanked out from ...

Re: Noah Caldwell-Gervais: In-Depth Game Analysis on YouTube
The point wasn't that the puzzle is in any way unfair, or hard, or obscure, the point is it is the complete opposite of "valuing the players time", which is a phrase the dev uses to describe the game. This is demonstrable untrue, as shown in the video on a handful of examples. This isn't ...

Re: Noah Caldwell-Gervais: In-Depth Game Analysis on YouTube
Woah there, when I was playing the game the win condition sure didn't feel like getting into the mountain and shedding light into it's depths. Rather I felt the win condition of the game was in fact to find all the puzzles and complete them. The only reward in the game was that of progression onto ...

Re: Noah Caldwell-Gervais: In-Depth Game Analysis on YouTube
I watched chunks of the first video and it didn't seem like it actually covered that much though. It seemed like he played the game in an insanely stubborn way that made him take far longer to do things than he ought to have. A lot of his complaints were irrelevant unless you're trying to go for 100...

Re: What to do next
I think your bloodwood tree idea makes a lot of sense. Alternatively, since you have a village, you could always go for the Groth! And although either way you'll have to be careful about placing them down near pigmen, that's really not so hard.

Before I can breed them, I keep animals in pens by themselves and never have a problem with those ones. It's the ones that share a pen which always eventually suffocate in the walls or just escape if the wall block is non-opaque. Presumably it has something to do with mob collision, but I've yet to ...

Re: 7 Days to Die - and How I'm now Spoiled
Does this game have a pause button yet? I bought it a while ago but I was quickly turned off by the lack of such a standard single-player feature. I really don't understand the rationale for forcing people to quit the game every time they need to turn their attention away from the computer for twent...

Having actually been in situations where I had to convince myself to keep solving problems in order to not die cold and alone, this film struck a deep chord of authenticity in the tone. If you lose your ability to make light of a situation while maintaining respect for it, you're going to have a mu...

Do you not get any performance issues with that? My last world we had a bloodwood tree that went out of control and the performance went through the floor for everyone, so much so that I had to delete the Nether and start fresh. Now on my server I have had to put a rule against none contained blood...

Re: HC slime stories & discussion [spoilers]
Holy cow, slimes are great now! Those tiny ones really kicked my ass. I had a flashback to playing Quake as a kid and getting repeatedly wrecked by those lightning-fast bouncing blue blob monsters. It was fantastic; I love when a game can dredge up long-forgotten memories like that! The movement fix...

But seriously: wtf was up with that costume? The last few minutes essentially blew the whole thing out of the water for me, and left me with a very negative impression of it despite having really enjoyed the rest. Oh man, I saw this series a couple days ago and had the exact same reaction. Costume ...

The BTW moment that sticks with me most has got to be when I first got my bat farm operational- and nearly threw up a little in my mouth. No other game has ever gotten such a visceral reaction out of me. I had some idea of what to expect with the bat farming, but it wasn't until seeing it that I rea...

Re: Star Wars VII trailer
See, Darth Mauls dual saber is actually a very different weapon with a very different fighting style attached to it, think sword vs staff. And this is evident in Qui-Gon Jinn's extreme difficulty in defeating this style. Darth Maul's dual-bladed lightsaber actually was cool, and made sense in that ...
