Re: Design Discussion: The Nuking of maps
I like maps. My suggestion (I don't know how else to phrase that) is that you remove the player-locator-cursor thing entirely, including the off-map direction dot. Then they'll work exactly like real maps, still be pretty, and be fairly useless as a GPS. The Minecraft landscape all looks pretty much...

Re: Difficulty powering the Hibachi
R BH Hibachi is powered, no matter what direction the redstone is facing. So shouldn't the first hibachi be powered in the picture here? (I have a feeling the direction does matter for this one again, because it was powered when the wire was facing the hibachi. Bugger. You're right. I have no idea ...

Re: Difficulty powering the Hibachi
Underneath never works with redstone dust. If the dust block is on the same level as the hibachi block, the dust must be pointing into the hibachi. If the dust block is a level above the hibachi, so that it's on the same level as the fire, it doesn't have to be pointing at the hibachi. H is Hibachi,...

I can't confirm it myself, but I think someone mentioned that on the MCF. It might have been the same person.

*stands ready to welcome newcomers* I couldn't find a picture of the defenders on the battlements of either Helm's Deep or Minas Tirith, but I found one of the orcs at Helm's Deep that conveys the message fairly well I think. It's just a picture of the new members, when I wanted one of the old. htt...

Do you own furniture? Nope. Not anything I wouldn't be willing to throw out or give away on a moment's notice anyways. Basically, my rule is "only what fits in the trunk of a car or that you'd have no issue leaving behind". It's basically a Fight Club style mentality. I've moved around so...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of October 23rd)
They seem to show a lack of care for textures in general. I wonder if it's a combination of them being programmers and them figuring most people use texture packs... Well, I'm hardly one to complain, as I certainly don't consider myself an artist, but it does seem odd to me that they'd take a step ...

I had great fun all night suprising people. I scared one little girl to where she didn't want to come to the door, which made me sad. I got out of the coffin and took the fangs out to apologise, but her mom thought it was great! Yeah. Unfortunately there are a lot more really little kids than teena...

That makes a surprising amount of sense... Goddamit Mojang. Remember..."The Nether" was originally named "Hell" until it was changed due to public reaction. Again: paying too much attention to public reaction in game design is bad bad mojo. Hence why "fuck off" is my t...

I didn't go anywhere for Halloween, but I dressed up in full stormtrooper armor. I had <CLASSIFIED> sit on the front steps to hand out the candy, and I stood really still on a cookie sheet nearby, so it looked like I was a mannequin on a stand. I only scared one person really well, but he freaked ou...

Re: Lucasfilm Bought by Disney
Lucas has already established that the "expanded universe" stories are non-canon. He said in 2001: Given that Lucas has spent the years since then hiring people to make more EU, and employed (Or did until a few days ago) Leland Chee specifically to manage all this and keep conflicts down,...

Re: Lucasfilm Bought by Disney
I dunno man. I doubt it could get worse. What were episodes 7-9 supposed to be about anyways? Something about Leia and Han's uber-jedi kids or something, no? Would be kinda cool if they got together some of the now original geriatric cast for it. No. Star Wars was originally supposed to be nine mov...

Re: Lucasfilm Bought by Disney
Having actually read the article, I am now convinced that this is the end of the world. On the brighter side, I will finally have a chance to become an embittered old man standing outside the movie theater, griping about how the movies were so much better back in my day.

Re: Lucasfilm Bought by Disney
The only problem I can think of immediately is that Lucas has always been very tolerant of fan organizations like the 501st, even though technically their costumes violate his copyrights/intellectual property/whichever one it is for stormtrooper armor. Disney might not like that so much, and that co...

Now, you have an extremely eclectic selection of animals, where did that come from? I dunno, really. I've always had cats and dogs. I actually used to have a few more, but one of the dogs died and one of the cats is living with someone else now. I love crustaceans, so that's where the hermit crabs ...

I'm a moderator on a different forum, but it's a completely different situation from either here or the MCF. There are less than 500 members, and I think we've only ever had to permanently ban one person. I don't think I would do a good job on as large a forum as the MCF.

I think everyone got that message for application man. Even I did, and there's no way I'm impartial enou...
