Re: You Have an Idea for a Game - Here's Why Nobody Cares
People seem to get caught up in how their idea would be great in an 'ideal' world and overlook the reality of it. I face that a lot in finance, someone will approach me with a potential innovation and despite me spending an hour telling them and their manager it won't work (I have been doing my job ...

Don't forget villages can be overrun by zombies. Is it possible the one in question was annihilated rather than spawning as abandoned?

Re: Grau's Great Tabletop Venture
Used to play a regular weekly game with a groups of friends (we all used to crash at one guys place after clubbing on Sat night and start DnD as soon as enough of us were awake and just play until late Sun night.... ahhh good memories). So yeh I'd love to get involved, my only issue is the copyright...

Re: Computer Building For Dummies (Help Wanted)
I started my working life as a small business owner building PC's and I can confirm what DNoved1 is saying - it's really not hard. I can't help with sites, unfortunately, as I have never tried to buy parts for delivery outside of Australia. As for choosing components; I have spoilered this to manage...

Re: What is your most advanced redstone circuitry?
Mine was the most advanced TNT cannon you have ever seen. I took a ridiculously over-the-top design from youtube that I absolutely fell in love with (for exactly that reason :D ) and then went over-the-top in my own way on top of it! It had a secure control room, that couldn’t be accessed by anyone ...

Well they are symbols of power, Gods rights hand and all that, though I'm not going to go into the various sources and/or religions they originate from. Whatever the source they are supernatural beings, inherently therefore, more powerful than us and they are typically on the side of 'good'. If some...

Re: Platforms destroy *very* quickly
I might not be opposed to adding a block of a similar nature, maybe even allowing them to be climbed like ladders in the process, if people felt that it was really something they could benefit from. However, I don't think now is the time for people to be making that call. I think many are reflexive...

Re: Question concerning finite liquids
I can't comment on it directly as I still haven't had the time to look through MC's code (as much as modding it is of interest). That said you might find some clues in BtB if you still have a copy around (I still have mine but since it's not avaliable for public D/L anymore I hesitate to share it wi...

Re: Finding a witch hut in an old world
It depends how legit you want to be. If you want the hut itself as a feature in your world you can use MCEdit (as Dave suggested) to delete the chunks. If you are hardcore about not using that sort of thing you will need a nether rail or whatnot to get new blocks as you suggest. If you dont care abo...

Re: Help with Auto cart loader
I don't think the limiter will make a difference because the hopper is powering directly down and because it continues to output the signal. Crap. I always forget the rail is in the block 'above' it. Keep thinking its part of the block its sitting on, in effect. Sorry my bad. I think that's a funda...

Re: Help with Auto cart loader
Any sort of pulse limiter between the hopper and powered rail. Turns on when the hopper fills, sends a pulse to the track (use a limiter design that allows a long enough signal or extend the signal with a max delay repeater if its only powering a single cart on a single powered rail piece), limiter ...

-They teleport when damaged. My logic is that ideally, they'll teleport back to the trap in most cases, so I don't know how important this actually is. Unless you can bring mobs up or go nuts with concrete that wont really work. They can teleport anywhere they can fit so lighting caves/sorting room...

Re: Warhammer is SEGA jam now
I'm glad Warhammer isn't dying. I like the first 40k a lot (once you put all the x-packs on). The second was lacking but had much better mechanics in that it went from classic RTS feel to something that forced you to be just as tactical and considered as the tabletop version. That said, if I see one...

Re: How do you light up your base?
I haven't had the time to do it yet but I have been thinking of using lenses to create a spotlight effect. Depends on the area too though since the player can intercept the beam but if done right can certainly create plenty of light and allows the structure supporting that light to be moved away fro...

As for height, you want to avoid breaking the 128 mark unless you intend to use all of the next 128 too. I forget the specific explanation other than it's something to do with the way the game handles the additional height since Anvil maps (and this includes your roof blocks too). As for depth, its ...

T-flip flops Having a single button for on/off, open/close, whatever is always more elegant than a level and almost always more useful in terms of other things the circuit may need to do. They are pretty useful is so many way when not a direct input from the player (i.e. a memory latch for a variabl...

Re: Time Travel Film: Brains Wanted
My one and only problem with time travel is a simple definition. To draw an easier-to-explain parallel, when was in my first year of high school a smart (and smart-ass as it happened) kid decided to argue with the maths teacher that 1 could be less than 0 if put into a particular formula. Of course ...
