Re: water acting weird... flow keeps stopping
pics would help, but this sounds similar to the behavior of one of the features of screw pumps that prevents people from exploiting infinite water. At least at first glance. If memory further serves, this was changed after the initial implementation of HCB and screw pumps, so it makes sense with wha...

New world: worth it?
So I've got a small server hosted from my computer that me and a small handful of friends play cooperatively on. We started back in Timing Rodent B, and as far as tech tree goes we've only broken into the nether and done a couple of minor things, and have a couple of barely sustainable bases hanging...

Please, slow down...it's been so many times so quickly, I'm not used to this, I'm drowning under the weight of your repeated releases TT_TTFlowerChild wrote: Frothy Discharge!

Yeah, I vaguely recall some of this from way back when. I had never meant my story as be the most canonically accurate explanation, I just like the story loldawnraider wrote:s o u l _ a n u s.

Re: Who (or what?) is Steve? Why is he here?
I actually have always thought about it a different way, I'm of the opinion that good vs evil can get a little samey tbh. Here's the background I drew to connect the dots in btw: -magic in BTW is for the most part based on souls -villagers and zombies/steve have distinct models, almost like one evol...

Re: Better than Wolves and Rails?
This is unfortunately on a private server thats been down for a few weeks, I'm trying to get it back up and running but I just haven't had much time recently. I should be able to get to it this weekend though and I'll leave myself a note to put up a post with a few pics :)

Re: Better than Wolves and Rails?
There's no rail automation to speak of in Better Than Wolves. As much as I hate to disagree with the spikey overlord himself, my ummm... 'livestock enrichment center' uses rails and carts to gently collect the meat...I mean cute lil' babbies...and present them with a nice relaxing tour of my soul b...

Re: Farming: Dung, Blazes, and monsters in general.
The answer to your question can actually be found in some of the older threads on this subject. I remember this being brought up several times over the years. That being said: to make an early blaze farm, find a spawner, reduce the spawning area to 2 blocks tall to prevent flight, and leave yourself...

If you haven't come across them in your search already, check out flowerchilds dev diaries and threads relating to mob farms. Anything labelled spoilers might have something

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.A2 Timing Rodent) - NO SPOILERS
The change to chickens alone would have made a great patch! Honestly, immediately after settling down and before hoppers, was some of the least enjoyable gameplay in the mod for me specifically because of the chicken sitting you're forced into if you rely on eggs for food. Honestly we had one guy on...

Re: The BTW Stoner Challenge
Oooooh, Rianaru, that's really interesting, I'd love to see that in action. Sorry for the response lag, I went out of country for a while. Further testing reveals that explosions are slightly bigger than i thought and i don't have the resources for as many pistons and redstone as are needed to refi...

Re: The BTW Stoner Challenge
For those of you without access to late game automation/resources, a record farm(easily added on to any standard mob trap as long as you can figure out sorting) could be converted to make creepers blow themselves up and collect cobble in that fashion. I was halfway done with this before the previou...

Re: CRISPR / CAS9
No worries man, you did a great job at staying objective. The thing about not being able to indentify crispr modified cells is still an issue. While older techniques left traces in any case, as it was just part of the technique, it was a no brainer to find out if a cell had been modified. Crispr on...

Re: CRISPR / CAS9
Actually, the old laws for GMO won't tackle CRISPR for several reasons. First, older techniques were crude, left virus DNA in the modified cells and there has been no way to control where the inserted gene would end up. It was just incorporated at some random point of the DNA, potentially leading t...

Re: CRISPR / CAS9
Ok, so I know the main conversation petered out a couple of days ago, but I've been keeping up on the thread since it started and doing some research since then. I also hold a BS in molecular biology with a minor in bioinformatics, and CRISPR/CAS9 has been a special area of focus for me over the tim...

Re: Mobs don't spawn in my Nether Fortress Farm
There's actually another thread on this exact topic on the front page from when I had the same issue, as well as several others over the past several years. I suggest you check those threads out for advice. Two things I will say though are that spawn rates are frustratingly slow, even with highly de...

Re: Nether mob farm help
that was something we tried after reading forum threads on the issue, we both(the two of us on at the time) stood ~50 blocks away for 10 minutes. after a few trials, we got a couple of wither skellies, and some blazes from a nearby portal as the groth grew around our nether to increasingly invasive ...

Nether mob farm help
hey all, so me and my buddies were working on a private server, and we just got to the point where its absolutely necessary to build a nether mob farm for the steady stream of gold a developing BTW town requires. I thought that for the sake of expediency, we would combine it with a with skeleton far...

Re: LAN troubles, not connecting
Thanks for all the suggestions guys! Re: LAN troubles, not connecting
You're right, and I don't think it's likely that it was caused by BTW, I was just checking to see if anyone in the community had run into a similar problem or had a solution. Same network, disabled firewall, connected directly by IP. If it helps, we can connect to LAN using vanilla or non-BTW mods(a...

LAN troubles, not connecting
I was trying to get connected with my brother on a LAN world for BTW, version 4.99999A0F Marsupial!?!? but every time we try to connect, we either get a message that the host could not be found or couldn't be connected to. I've checked the internet and everything on my end, and it looks like its all...

I am the Sorcerer of Lies! Nah really 70 games on steam and growing as of now. Btw buy Endless Legend if you love Civ5 but think Beyond Earth a little to tame. It has a great quest system and very well woven RPG elements integrated in the turn-based combat. Its world is as interesting as Civ5's pse...

Re: Farming Hats
If you were really concerned about conserving glowstone you could convert glowstone dust into light blocks. It'd be a bit of a pain in the ass to have an open space underneath for a redstone torch. Admittedly this does use redstone, but it's renewable at least. It does take quite a few shinies to co...
