Re: So long and thanks for all the fish
I only had brief interactions with you many years ago, but I felt I had to come back to say something, as Better Than Wolves and all your thorough comments on game design over the years have been a massive source of inspiration on how I view and approach gaming as a whole. Thank you for all your ded...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.14)
This seems pretty awesome, actually. I will definetly give Hardcore Buoy a go, as I was very pleasantly suprised once I decided to give HCB a chance. Thanks for the update man, awesome stuff indeed!

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.0)
YES! Thanks a ton FlowerChild, you have been putting a lot of effort in the mod with all this releases, and this one in special must have been hell to get ready. I showed Better than Wolves to my friends a week ago, and we were waiting for this release to put it on our server. SMP is always awesome,...

Re: Thoughts on the Zeppelin Mod?
Man...just...stay the fuck away from it. I've used Zeppelin. As others pointed out, it feels really hacky and arbitrary, and completely kills the suspension of disbelief. I tried to get around that by only using airships that looked like they could fly, but that wasn't the biggest problem. Zeppelin ...

I love your videos Battosay. Even though they make me embarrassed of my pathetic creations.

Thanks for the release FC! It has some really cool stuff, especially the xp collection part. Punching spiders was really boring.

Re: The Return To Home: Delayed (a.k.a. Eureka Part III)
It's funny actually. That's always been something that's bothered me about MC. I think you'd expect mountainous regions to be particularly mineral rich, and for the depth at which they are located to be relative to depth from the surface as opposed to world-height. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm n...

This will be utter awesomeness!
Time to expand my underground space for the features that might be coming. Now I realise it wasn't such a good idea to build my house on top of mountain.

Re: Better than Wolves SMP and anarchy servers
Although unless we throw in a bit of speculation, and say that Flowerchild uses the new potential effects for the "overpower in storms" mechanic added in v3.59, I'm guessing the majority of what we'll see will be more nether traps and misdirections aimed at making sure that players making...

Re: Better than Wolves SMP and anarchy servers
The idea of sieging using multi-block systems is defenetly one that I personally like a lot, and that I think has been left with very little attention in vanilla minecraft. The central piece of minecraft's gameplay is the ability to place and remove blocks, and is a bit sad to see it's potential to ...

Re: Better than Wolves SMP and anarchy servers
The thing is, once you're found, you're basically fucked no matter how many traps you have or how effective they are. A determined player will always find a way around them (and I think there should always be a way around them even if it's difficult), and the best you can do is slow them down. Yes,...

Re: Better than Wolves SMP and anarchy servers
That's true, and I don't expect an anarchy server to be aesthetically pleasing in any way, but a great part of the mod is focused around automation, wich genarally requires a significant amount of time and space. To me, raiding and defending bases could be a really interesting aspect of gameplay, bu...

Better than Wolves SMP and anarchy servers
So I think we all know that singleplayer and multiplayer code are being merged into one, meaning that in some time we might have Better than Wolves for multiplayer. While I was lurking around the "Anniversary Update" speculation thread (or something like that) one thing that came a lot on ...

Re: Indie games worth checking out!
I've been quite fascinated lately by a game called Infinity: The quest for Earth. The game hasn't been released yet, and to be fair, I think odds are it will NEVER be released, but their idea is just so ridiculously good that I can't help but feel sad at how slow the development has been. They are a...

Re: Morvelaira's MC News Compilation
except, added to the way Jeb tends to design the game, this already mentionned clue : SewingPin : also, farewell, non-renewable resources? jeb_ : Hope so! Yeah, but that's a problem with trading, not with the golden apples. To be fair, I am quite worried that this new effect will be so much greater...

Re: Morvelaira's MC News Compilation
Okay people, I think we're all getting a bit too concerned about the golden apple issue. I certainly agree that trading is going to bring major balance issues, but the golden apple change seems to me as really irrelevant thing (though I do think it's bad that more development time was wasted in this...

Re: Morvelaira's MC News Compilation
They do!? Is that new? I only remember ever finding crap in villages... Well, then I had a very different experience with villages than you. I find village's chests to usually have not only diamond and iron, but also gold, some iron armor pieces and the eventual iron pickaxe. Not to mention all the...

Re: Morvelaira's MC News Compilation
Well, considering that a lot (if not most) of the cests you find inside blacksmiths contain diamonds and iron, enabling players to go to the nether before they even get a stone pickaxe, I would say no.Sarudak wrote: Does he have any idea what he's doing to the game?

Re: Morvelaira's MC News Compilation
So as my first post on the forums, I would like to start by giving my useless opinion. I think the big problem here is that the trading system is being added before the villagers got some proper AI (not getting into the question if the villagers SHOULD ever get a proper AI, but without one it would ...
