Re: Subnautica

It doesn't seem to me to be so much of a survival game than as a sightseeing game with a few survival elements. I would wait until purchasing at this early stage in order to see if development will take it in a direction you want to go.

Re: Steam Sales

I remember playing one of the first versions of MS Flight Simulator on a Commodore 64 and I've had a couple of different versions since then. MS Flight Simulator X was in part responsible for inspiring me to get my pilot license in 2007. There is an amazing amount of technical detail in the game and...

Re: Mount & Blade II - Bannerlord

I've been sold on this since the announcement. I've played through all of the M&B titles from start and while I think they've made some cockeyed business decisions, (Fire & Sword, Napoleanic Wars), I'm still chuffed about Bannerlord. The modding tools look good, but I hope it's not all about...

Ugh! The only crap thing about no saves is the intercept that turns into a flyby because you get impatient with time accelerate... Or worse a landing into a collision... Really need a mode that forces X1 at "X" altitude... Have you tried Kerbal Alarm Clock? It's only job is to pull you ou...

Tony is was very cool back in the day. I was on QA team for No Remorse and No Regret which seems like aeons ago. I also remember EA being very hard-assed about deadlines, to the point where we would bring pillows to work during crunch (final testing), and usually stayed overnight along with the prog...

I find that a killing room with a block of 2x2 (4) saws with a two wide stream of water pushing against the lower two much kills everything up to 2x2 in size. It may sound like overkill but nothing escapes.

I'm using the Minecraft Launcher version 1.3.11 with MCPatcher version 4.2.2. As long as you create a profile properly for 1.5.2 there should be no incompatibility problems.

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (March 31st) - Cold hard truth editio

I've loved this mod since I started playing it a few years ago. I normally slice through games like butter and rarely will play something past three months without modding the living hell out of it, trying to create new enthusiasm into the gameplay. This usually doesn't hold my attention much longer...

Does anyone else have their liquid fueled engine randomly have no effect? I mean the sound plays and the engine displays fire and I can throttle it up and down but it doesn't seem to actually produce any thrust. This problem usually only shows up in orbit so it's really frustrating because I'll get...

On the subject of mods: Messing with the tech tree is as easy as modifying a .cfg file? So if I add a mod with parts like, say, Remotetech, it would be pretty easy for me to insert those parts into appropriate parts of the tech tree myself, right? I loaded in Procedural Fairings and they appeared i...

Re: Cool Life on Mars video

I seriously doubt the existence of sentient insectoid aliens. Intelligence requires a certain size of brain, [-snip-] There is absolutely no reason why this should be. There are mammals on earth with extremely large brains (18lbs). If you are just going by brain-to-body mass then again it's certain...

Re: Cool Life on Mars video

We may even find homo-sapien-like creatures on other planets because we are a very versatile shape for advanced movement, like throwing spears or building huts. I wouldn't expect that intelligent life would necessarily be housed in a primate-style body type. Just look at how many different body typ...

Re: Cool Life on Mars video

My understanding is that methane level readings on Mars are much lower than they expected, given a prior reading from another instrument. That indicates there probably isn't the plethora of bacterial life they were expecting. However, there are living organisms on earth that do not exude methane liv...

Re: Prison arquitect.. in space?!?!

My first look at the game was through tehpauleh. It immediately reminds me of an old game called Space Colony without the "Sims" aspect of developing relationships... hopefully.

Here's the LP -- I like that they just throw you out there with 6 minutes to survive. Kudos!

Re: Kerbal Space Program 0.22 anticipation thread

I think I would rather KSP be a sandbox toy with them making elements like a career and tech structure which modders can then work with. I accept that all Squad is aiming for with the tech tree is to introduce players to parts in a structured way. At first I balked, but the more I think about it, ho...

I started playing D&D back with the original books (yeah, I'm kinda old) and never really adopted all the updates and have had a blast with it. Same here. I still have my books on hand just in case a spontaneous game shows up. Given that's it's been about 35 years, I'm beginning to doubt that w...

Re: Strategies You Use to Find Your Way Home after HC Spawn?

Early game I do a lot of hunting, and as you know, you have to go further and further out until you get a way to lead a couple back. I drop high dirt columns and stick a torch on if I can afford to. That way when I die (not if), I have a better chance of running into them. It's a slow process overal...

Re: Kerbal Space Program 0.21 is out!

Mechjeb is an awesome mod. But it's more or less the T.M.I. of Kerbal. You can use it as a purely informational device, but on the other hand, it can automatically launch for you, stage for you, orbit for you, dock for you, land for you, and any number of other things. It is a wonder of programming,...
