Re: New Release! (BTW V4.70)

I think part of the problem with people having a hard time adapting is that there are two primary elements to BTW (as I see it). The early stage of development seemed largely about adding more stuff to make and do. Now it is moving more into game balance and ramping up difficulty, and obviously both...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.70)

I've put a few hours into the update and had some interesting behavioral changes. I'm overall really enjoying all of your choices so far. Hard core jumping was a great idea. I didn't even have to test it to see the merit to the idea. The only surprise was I didn't realize how often I used to jump to...

Re: 4.65 Balance Observations and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The combination of all of the hardcore elements of the game is starting to wear me out as a player. I think all of the survival changes make sense but in practice it is keeping me so busy just trying to stay fed that I have little time to do other tasks in the game. I tried fishing and the yield was...

Re: 4.64 Balance Observations & Discussion

I've been away from the game for quite some time but dropping in to keep track of BTW. The new coal/charcoal and iron changes finally convinced me to get the game back up and running. For various reasons it took me about five days before I found any coal. The positive is that this forced me to exper...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of December 31st)

Those are some tough issues on your plate. Regardless of the drama with other modders (which is no small matter) it is pretty clear that vMC development has been more of a burden than a boon for you for a while. I hope whatever path you take brings less stress and more enjoyment to you. That said, n...

Re: Building my first major mob trap

I recently built my first mob trap and was pretty happy with the results. So I guess I'll share my thoughts, experiences and tips. First my mob trap is probably very small, basic and inefficient compared to what you are planning and what others have done, but it has decent loot yields. It is about 7...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.32)

Thank you for all the hard work you have put into this mod. It is really something special! I'm more of a lurker on here but felt I needed to say that. I've been enjoying all the new additions and your thoughtful balancing of the vanilla update(s).

Re: [4.30] [Friendly] It takes a Village

Yeah, I noticed only a very small group have been logging in regularly so it has been very quiet. There's not much sense in keeping it up (even with donations) if people wont use it. Definitely put the map out for download as there are some nice builds and I'll probably keep at my projects in single...

Re: [4.30] [Friendly] It takes a Village

I spent a couple days hunting in the wrong area (doh!) and finally found a stronghold. It is very close to the portal just after moontown (west from spawn). I know we haven't been actively on all at once but was thinking of making a group effort to the end? I put a sign asking people to wait until w...

Re: [4.22] [Friendly] It takes a Village {NEW IP}

If anyone is online can you please break the portal in the nether that goes to moontown? I'm stuck in it with some odd jumping bug that wont let me move or use any key commands. I will unbreak the portal when I get on and it works. Thanks!

Re: [4.22] [Friendly] It takes a Village {NEW IP}

I use a customized version of Misa's Realistic and nothing looks out of place. I kind of like the idea that builds will look different to different people.

Re: [4.21] [Friendly] It takes a Village

There is a double chest+ of Redstone in the moontown storage that Industrytown is welcome to. I'm sure I will replace it with future mining. If someone does find a mushroom biome please stock some mycelium in the community storage :) I will probably go back to exploring again soon so will keep an ey...

Re: [4.21] [Friendly] It takes a Village

Moontown is secure enough for villagers now. Marasambala, you can release them when you get your connection back in working order. I've put fences down to keep them out of trouble (town entrances and undomesticated cave areas mostly). MOB spawns seem pretty under control and there is a good amount o...

Re: [4.20] [Friendly] It takes a Village

Just so everyone knows, I've been trying to straighten up the nether a bit lately. Building very long 3 block wide paths in all four directions and placing portals at decent intervals. I've placed iron doors at each path access to help keep the main Nether room secure in case someone angers the zomb...

Re: [4.20] [Friendly] It takes a Village

Yeah, I rushed that one without asking... I'll try and remake it to be just a windmill, but a lot of work will go to waste.. You should check out some wall designs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdev279KkV0 ;)), then we can make it a project =D I think if it has some trim and exterior polish it wi...

Re: New hardcore chickens feature (spoliers)

Has anyone noticed getting more or less feathers from exploding chickens (instead of just killing them)? While testing briefly they seemed to drop a fair amount but it could have been random luck at the time.

Re: [4.20] [Friendly] It takes a Village

Yeah, the server will probably be back up tonight when Marasambala gets back from camping. no big deal. Balavac (and others), that building is a little big for the town design as is (though the tech is needed). Can any future expansions and tech go underground? I've sent power to the metal smith bas...

Re: [4.20] [Friendly] It takes a Village (Updated OP; New Pi

To anyone who knows where the jungle biome is, can they please mark a path to it? Several of us would like to go there. For anyone looking for things to do: "moontown"(?) is maybe 90% mob spawn secure and has a basic perimeter carved out. Some folks have already contributed very nice work ...

Re: [4.16] [Friendly] It takes a Village

I added a donation chest for the rail network inside the new town post office (nice idea :) and threw in a couple stacks of Iron. I also dumped a bunch of cobble into the town bank for the mob trap project. I think as well as group mining it would be interesting to have a group tree cutting event. m...

Re: [4.16] [Friendly] It takes a Village (PROJECT for Tonigh

sadly I will probably not be back on tonight but am into the community mine and rail system. I read a bit from the dwarf mining post and it seemed more hardcore than necessary (especially with BTW iron recycling). I'm curious to see how we pull it off. If someone sets up a building near the center o...

Re: [BTW 4.16] [Friendly Server] It takes a Village

Our main town has really grown in a week, it looks great! I like the idea of expanding into many towns. I think the first town was preoccupied on getting the tech up and running. If we do expand to new towns I have some suggestions: -More function/tech specific buildings (even if that means redundan...

spent a surprising amount of time on this server today. Got a decent tree farm up. I haven't gone into the nether yet but we definitely need some portal networks into different biomes. I went sailing for several in game days and the most exciting I found were some birch trees :) It is pretty fun bei...

wow, another major update. Thanks! Hardcore bucket is something I hadn't messed with before and is going to take a lot of getting used to, but it is a logical move and I'm looking forward to the new challenges. I think the biggest change for me will be lack of lava buckets since I used to make mould...
