Re: Useful Links (Wiki, Recipe List, MC Forums, etc)

I added more links as well, which you can read about in that thread. I'll just link those here as well. (Note that the only reason I bother with the adf.ly ad links is because I really need money these days. Feel free to use the new non-ad link if you really hate ads.) Unless people start complaini...

Re: Useful Links (Wiki, Recipe List, MC Forums, etc)

Also, I just tried the PNG recipe list link and got a malware warning in Chrome... That's courtesy of the adfly link. Just click it again and it shouldn't complain again. There's a random ad being shown and some of those ads might register as malware (probably false positive even then). Gotya. Look...

Re: Serious Request: More sources of poo.

Well, on my 7th attempt at a new world, I managed to find a wolf, managed to kill a few skeletons so I could tame it, managed to keep it alive long enough to get 3 dung, went to the nether, got the hibachi grill going, made some tanned leather, made a saw to cut some wood panels, and I think you kn...

Going to respond to this once, and then I'm done with it. My intention to the poster of this thread was to point him to the Unofficial Suggestions thread. And yeah, I expressed my opinion in tow. If that's a "multi-thread hissy fit" in your eyes, so be it. Hey man, it's a valid mechanic th...

Re: [Help] Downloading BTW

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong - it's a bit of a maze. But for anyone else who is poking at it: MCP is the project to decompile MC for modders to poke. MCP Patcher is a tool to manage the minecraft.jar file. ModLoader is code which allows modders to write mods without having to overwrite a bunch of cor...

I think MCP, the MCP project to manage projects, and ModLoader are getting confused here.

But if it makes you feel any better, did the exact same thing with my first one.

It's handy to have other things to hang the gearbox against, like a wall or ceiling or pillar. That makes it easy to be facing the way the gearbox expects.

Re: Un-Offical Suggestions List

I think a whistle could be a good idea, possibly made using a reed and stick to make a single use whistle that has a 25% (or less) chance to spawn 1 wolf nearby on well lit grass. Yeah, had thought reed would make sense, though I think paradoxically the biomes where reeds are, wolves become more li...

Re: Who here makes their own mods?

Has anyone played with extending ItemMap yet? A class with just extending, no new overrides, spawns correctly but doesn't trigger the first person map when held. Can't seem to find where that's getting triggered, assuming it might be looking for the specific class.

Re: Un-Offical Suggestions List

Yes it does happen with the wolves sitting, however it only happens if you take damage from a baddie within a chunk or two of proximity to the sitting wolves. I have no other mods other than modloader and btw and am running 1.7.2 (the 'helpful' tamed wolf problem occurred in 1.6.6 as well). If this...

Re: Who here makes their own mods?

(no, I don't pan on actually releasing that as a mod) . Was just happy to get MCP up and running properly on the Mac. Using Coda of all things. For the love of god, just use Eclipse. It's cross-platform and has anything and everything could want in an IDE (except doing the coding for you). Go to ec...

Re: Who here makes their own mods?

Hrm, anyone know why setItemName in Item isn't updating the hover text in inventory? AFAIK, setItemName() is some internal name. Check my sample code - you also need to use ModLoader.AddName() which sets the inventory name. Naturally when I look at a handy example, I stare at the wrong s...

Re: Say hello!

Looks like this thread was getting buried. For the most part forums annoy the hell out of me, unless they're smaller groups which are more behaved. Pretty much the only reason not in lurking status now. While I'll be poking around BTW in general, the mod also got me to install MCP and start modding ...

Re: Learning the Ropes

Modding used to be a great way to break into the industry, but modding got so commercialized it's nearly just the opposite now. Still, fun way to program. Modding MC isn't the most straight forward I've seen, but MCP does make it at least easier to see how the code itself is structured. There's one ...

@cheechako - nice! More baseline samples out there the better.
