Re: Specific Mod Compatibility Issues

This thread http://www.sargunster.com/btwforum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=69 contains information about which mods are compatible with btw and which need to be changed to make work. Some of what you're using is on that list so check that out. Your main problem is industrial craft. With both btw and ic...

Re: Redstone Circiuts and stuff - "Know-How"

@SterlingRed: If you want to stop the elevator with a sensor you need 2 for each level and you have make sure you know the delay it takes for them to transmit the signal where you want it to be. This means alot of iteration with trial and error and might even not work for certain distances and the ...

Re: Redstone Circiuts and stuff - "Know-How"

Alright that's considerably easier than a level selector at each level which would require rs nor and xor latches. (see redstone wiki) What you'll need to do (as i imagine, i haven't actually built an elevator yet) is use a block detector wired to the pulleys controlling the ropes on each level. You...

Re: Redstone Circiuts and stuff - "Know-How"

What redstone gates/logic you need depends on what you want to do. Would you like to be able to select each floor when you get on the lift like a real elevator? Or do you want it to automatically stop at each floor and require pressing a button to continue up or down? Also you should note that any e...

When you do get to harvesting, only harvest the top half of the hemp. It will regrow the top 2-3x faster than to regrow the whole plant.

Re: How to fireproof your house from Cauldrons

Just keep wood away. I'm using stone walls and a brick roof. I'm currently using wooden stairs as part of the roof but seeing as how I've burnt my roof off twice, I need to increase the height or replace it with cobblestone stairs/panels. Of course that comes after fixing the damage from 3 creepers ...

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

So in summary, I think Better than Wolves is best delivered as a mod that can be added to an existing vanilla world by players who have decided vM doesn't have enough. Once that happens, it doesn't matter if the BtW game design and tech tree leads to a fundamentally different style of game from vM....

I'm not even sure btw would work with smp even through itemcraft, but goodluck. So long as you don't redistribute any of FC's code it should be fine.

Re: Math /flee

The reason you've never seen what you're finding on linear algebra before is that most of the linear algebra for programming isn't taught in high school. Its college level. Plus at least for public American schools, the math classes are pretty basic. If you run into anything where you need calculus/...

Re: Clean and updated Minecraft crashes with updated BTW.

Give winrar a shot with a fresh minecraft.jar
Copy over modloader files first, close the .jar. Reopen the .jar and then copy over btw's files. Delete meta.

I had trouble with it at first using winzip. winrar worked without flaw.

And here it is: -snip- You win an internet for the week. Thats quite impressive. I couldn't tell exactly how the cobblestone clock worked but it appeared that the system attempted to push the gravel stack up multiple times after all the logs had cycled through. This delay could be eliminated I thin...

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

I still think steam is something too complex for btw's code and vM's code to handle. Blacksmithing would be an appropriate direction to head in. FC has hinted that we'll have a new way to make stone panels other than the mill stone soon so as far as i can tell, we won't have a definitive 'stone age....

Re: (un) official companuon cube contest

I was thinking, why don't we have a contest with "prizes" for cruelest uses for companion cubes and wolves? Also, there would be an extra prize for the best uses of companion cubes because they are better than wolves. Entry's must have pics or a video; a download of the world is nice but ...

Powered rails since powered minecarts don't really work and rails are easier to control and toggle on/off.

Re: I have a dream

Alright so you've got a seemingly harmless world surface but if a mob walks in front of your detectors, the block dispensers open a 'trapdoor' causing the mob to fall into a cactus trap where it dies. First, I'd say having the trapdoor feature at the top, isn't necessary since mobs will just walk in...

Re: Automatic Reed Farm Help

What i would do, is place a detector block on the end of the row, rather than 1 for each plant. Run the circuit from the db to all of the pistons so that you extend all of the pistons at once. I'd drop the ceiling down 1 more block so that the reeds only grow 2 high and you're breaking off the top r...

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

I agree that the powered minecart is useless. I've personally never used one since I figured out how to use the glitch boosters and now powered rails. I would like to see some changes in vM that would make the powered minecart more useful than it is now. Perhaps it having a constant momentum regardl...

Re: from hopper to minecart

there is a much easier way to use the hopper with a minecart! use an exteded piston, on which the minecart can stop, above the hopper and a detector block to check if a minecart is positioned on the extended piston. If a minecart stops on the piston, the hopper start to fill in items. Then first th...

I honestly don't know why people want guns in the game so much. I personally don't see the point. We have swords, and we have a bow. Those are already weapons enough. If I can pull out an ak47 and just shoot a creeper to hell from 3 chunks away, whats the point of playing on a difficulty setting oth...
