Re: New Release! (BTW 4.ABCFAFAFA) - NO SPOILERS
Just wanted to chime in that this gearbox change is a very big deal for me. I've been somewhat robbed of my momentum by my lack of gold lately. Might be time to jump on the server for a new spawn.

Hot damn! This is a great nightcap to what was already a pretty great day.
My brother and I started a new server a few months back, which we've deemed "The Forever Server." This should get us playing again after the holiday slump!
Thanks FC!

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.A2 Timing Rodent) - NO SPOILERS
*whoops loudly, runs in circles* Frankly this is a weird bit of synchronicity for me. My brother and I were just talking last night at Thanksgiving about needing to start up a new server and get back into BTW. ! Also, if Hardcore Stumping is what I think it is, that's a really interesting way to pro...

Re: BTW Mempries as 4 Year anniversary aproaches
Best wishes and cookies, MagikEh. I feel this, man. I am 23, and the last 5 years of my life have made me into a much different person. And BTW was almost always in there, developing slowly and evolving, just like I have been doing since I graduated high school (almost exactly 5 years ago.) I have ...

Re: Disabling Hardcore
You've already gotten the correct answer from the man himself, so I'm not certain that it's worthwhile to add anything, but here's something to consider. Every feature in the mod is tied together inextricably. The sum total of all the features is what makes the BTW experience, and the balance is del...

Re: Direction of Better Than Wolves and progress to date
I think about BTW frequently, often independently of playing, as kind of a fun mental exercise and also as a way of sharpening my eye for good game design. The design lends itself to deep analysis, as even seemingly discrete features are tied into all the various systems and subsystems of the mod. T...

Re: First time in KSP
ome think BTSM is easier to get into given the limited part selection at start gives you less to try and understand initially. Some think the added difficulty makes it harder to start out with. The progression is tight enough that I think you either understand a concept or don't, and will fail at i...

Re: The BTSM/BTW divide
Disclaimer: I haven't played KSP much, and I know very little about it, and BTSM. But for me, there's just something different about Minecraft. I feel more personally involved in my world. One of the things that has always kept me coming back to MC is the satisfaction of looking at your buildings an...

Re: Rock Paper Shotgun barely mentions BTW!
I've largely gotten over trying to explain BTW to people. The difference from vMC at this point is so vast that it requires at least 20 minutes to make sure I do it justice. I don't think BTW is for everyone, and unless someone's showing interest in it, I'm not going to try to convince people that t...

Re: BTW Playing Habits
Having only just made it to Larry Underwood's departure of NYC in the book, I can with relief say my eyes have an almost supernatural way of skipping around a page that contains text I don't want to read :) Though I am saddened that the ending might be a potential letdown. The book is fantastic so ...

... Stephen King... ending right. ... spider-alien ... I read IT years ago, and this is still a sore spot for me. And don't even get me started on The Stand, which is similarly awesome until the ending where the hand of god literally comes down from the sky and ends the story . Only Stephen King co...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
How do you guys think having MS in charge will effect modding and BTW specifically? Besides my personal feelings on Microsoft (short version: not good), I think the chances of me getting a "cease and desist" letter at some point just shot up dramatically. Well, that's the scariest thing I...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Can anyone confirm or deny this? I was surprised when I read it, but I can't find anything that backs it up online. Looks like FC just swung the hammer on jecowa... but maybe someone else knows something about this? From what's being said on Twitter, it looks like it's still all speculation. And I ...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
The article states that Microsoft is in talks to acquire Mojang AB. I just wanted to make it clear that Mojang does not even own Minecraft. Notch has a second company (I think called Notch Enterprises) that owns Minecraft. Notch's second company licenses Minecraft to Mojang, and Notch collects the ...

Re: BTW Playing Habits
BTW is what I do to relax. Typically, I'll listen to a podcast while I play, or sometimes music. I never leave the game sound turned off, however - I use the volume mixer to make Minecraft just loud enough to hear (I also turn off MC's in game music). This way, I don't usually get snuck up on by Cre...

I'm a fan! Love podcasts, and this one came highly recommended. I'm only about ten episodes in, disappointing to hear that the quality might taper off as it's currently great. Just the right mix of creepy and funny.

FTL: Advanced Edition
I know there's other people here being consumed by the heroin-like addiction FTL can cause, made much more intense by the recent release of the FREE Advanced Edition expansion. Anyone have any thoughts on the new expansion? I'm really enjoying it, having recently become readdicted to FTL. Two weeks ...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (March 31st) - Cold hard truth editio
It's been so much fun, man. You revitalized my interest in Minecraft in a way I never would have thought possible. In addition to that, you gave me a taste of the thought processes of a real game developer and restored a spark I thought long dead to my interest in programming. It's been a while sinc...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (January 14th)
I have to say that over the past few months my interest in Minecraft has declined sharply, and I've played a lot less of it. However, it's been one of those games I come back to after a break and get into all over again. Looking forward to the developments to come in the mod, and for being teased wi...

Having read through this, I was going to make a big long post about my life history, and how much better it would have been for me if I'd grown up being told that I was a hard worker rather than being told how naturally intelligent I was. But it came out stupid, so I'm paring down to this: The harde...

Do you work in Computer Science? Wanna help me?
Hey all, I've got an assignment for a career class where we're supposed to interview a person who's working in our field (CS for me.) It seems like we have a decent amount of people on this forum who work as programmers, and even some as gamedevs. Would anyone in that field be willing to favor me wi...
