Re: Experiences of a long time player returning
String is usually the make or break resource in my experience. I found limited success with building floating platforms as a 'base' out of logs from the third axe or so. Being airborne for nights causes enemies to cluster underneath you. Most will safely burn as you flee in the morning, and the cree...

So on the community server we recently took down the big winged thing in the end. After that I met an untimely demise, and spent a couple lives wandering around the wilds. While there was an effort to soulsand my location, after a few deaths my next spawn placed me down standing beside where the com...

Spawn chunks look fairly great, you start in a small plains with access to jungle and swamp for mobtraps.
The rest of the world is almost entirely ice plains, jungle, extreme hills, and ocean.
I wish you brave souls the best of luck.

Server Crash on FCBlockStone
Don't think this is pressing, but I'll leave it here in case it turns out to be something recurring. My initial thought is this is related to running out of disk space; but there's a good 20 minutes between the two events. It's possible the server ran out of space and continued doing its best until ...

Re: New Gaming Setup; New World
Ubuntu on Nintendo Switch . Current version is 3.0.0, there is a kernel update coming soon that is fixing a couple bugs so maybe wait until 3.0.1 drops. Java Minecraft L4T . That tutorial isn't the best, you need to swap your active java version to java 8 instead of 11. Controls wise I'm using anti...

Re: Official Better Than Wolves Installation Thread
Is there a more official place to download that one? Bit weird it's some random link in a bug issue After a bit more digging, no. Just that the link that it is pointing too is a mojang link ( https://launcher.mojang.com/v1/objects/eabbff5ff8e21250e33670924a0c5e38f47c840b/launcher.jar ) which ought ...

Re: Official Better Than Wolves Installation Thread
I think I might have found it on the mojang bugs page. There's a note on https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCL-11993?jql=project%20%3D%20MCL%20AND%20fixVersion%20%3D%20%221.6.93%20(legacy)%22 that talks about the issues with the old launcher, and the fixes for them in the latest version that it then li...

Re: New launcher can't download 1.5.2 version
Just from reading that error, it doesn't look like it's failing to download Minecraft, but rather a library that it depends on. I'd see if you can track down a copy of jinput-platform-2.0.5-natives-windows.jar and put in where it's suggesting. A quick websearch for jinput 2.0.5 looks fairly promising.

Re: [Early game spoilers] Spelunking in the early game
I'm a big fan of using sky lighting for things. Often I won't even have a roof, just spider-proof the walls. There's a bolder approach to just let the spiders in and kill them for the string. In the unlikely event something does spawn in, it will either burn, or be easy to spot when you get back.

Indefinite Server
For a while I've been working on converting some old hardware into a working machine, and writing a few scripts to make a BTW server. I've had it running for a little bit; I'm confident it won't last forever. But it should last a good while, and for that while I'd like to share it with the world. On...

I think I remember something about animals not eating if they are panicking. Make sure there's no contraption around that is placing/breaking blocks and sending the cow into a frenzy. Although such a thing would not likely go unnoticed

Re: About keeping track of IG time in SSP and SMP (and chick
I'm wondering if there might be a way to detect the presence of mobs (undead in particular) to check for daylight. Zombies and Skeletons would burn up (helmets excepted) but there's the reset mechanism involved as well... don't want to rely on random spawns and tying everything to a mob spawner is k...

Starting my run over at https://www.twitch.tv/jakerman999 And logged in to a gloom night! I'll give it 5 minutes or so. Going to be starting my part in the BTW Succession game(V2) shortly; come hang out at https://www.twitch.tv/jakerman999 EDIT: Didn't last long. Succession is a one life per play event, unfortunately. Also unfortunate, is that I didn't have broadcast saving on. That's been rectified for next stream, ...

Re: BtW Succession Game v2
I missed the first one; so this is something I'd be interested in joining. Could I get a little more elaboration on how you got to the ruleset that you have though? A lot of that seems like workarounds for moving the project to a server, and I wonder if it's not possible to find something that works...

Only time I've used tripwires is in pvp, they're nice and subtle. I believe that's actually why they're so hard to see, it would ruin the surprise otherwise! Everything else they do that I can think of can be achieved in other means.

Green Mining Alternatives (AAAAAAAAAAHHHH Spoilers)
Creeper mining iron feels like a fairly big skip when trying to get your first iron tool. I like the risk/reward dynamic at play, but it really lowers the bar of the 3x3 crafting grid. Yielding a full chunk of ore and potentially exposing more ore is really strong, especially when a death is fairly ...

Is this only after 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH? A lot got changed, I wouldn't be surprised if maps got another change as well. They might need to be activated or drawn on or something I can't think of yet. Or it could be unintended behaviour.

Re: How does minecraft request a skin file?
I'm going over this, as I'm considering setting it up myself, and reading the Flask docs it recommends disabling debug mode otherwise users can execute arbitrary code. To do this edit the app.py and in the bottom line change to .
Code: Select all
debug=True
Code: Select all
debug=False
