Re: DayZ an Arma II mod you have to try!
FC, I love seeing references to Ultima Online. I read a review of it in Wired just after it was released and called my wife, who was out and about and said "Please bring me home a copy." She did. My oldest was three when I started playing. He pretty much taught himself to read, but one of ...

Re: What to do when the forest & taiga has no wolves?
I abandoned my first BTW world because after hours of searching and exploring in all directions I was unable to find any wolves. My second (and still current) BTW world it took me a while but I was able to find some wolves.

Re: Unidirectional redstone power source
Is this not the job of the repeater? It is not really a "source" but it is unidirectional and you could hide your redstone source 15 blocks away outside the design you're making.

Re: Water Wheel Help?
You cannot hook a water wheel directly to a mill stone. The millstone must be powered from the top or the bottom and a water wheel only provides horizontal power. You will need at least one gear box too.

Re: F*** YEAH! (best vacation ever)
Glad you had a good time away. The Redwoods are one of my favourite places on earth and one of my best days ever occurred there. I was on a motorcycle ride with a bunch of friends and I got sick in NoCal, spent 17 hours in a hotel room puking my guts out. The next day I needed to catch up to them we...

Re: Portable Ice Discussion
I would like to make a suggestion that you consider melting ice becoming a water source even with HCB turned on. I don't believe it should do so in the Nether, but in the overworld I actually think this might sort-of make sense given that even today, people move blocks of ice for cooling and water s...

Nicely done. I've been worried about putting my saves on Dropbox because I didn't want to face file corruption due to network connection problems. I'm guessing I shouldn't worry about that.

How are you defining "no power" I don't see anything attached to that gearbox that would use any power.

Re: Keep chunks active Block / Feature
There is one "simple" solution to eliminate your reservations about the issue! And what is that? This one? No man. I'd fully expect to be laughed out of a design meeting at any professional studio where I'd propose such a "feature". This is simply not going to happen in this mod...

Re: Keep chunks active Block / Feature
I've always found it jarring within the Minecraft world that things are NOT happening unless I'm nearby. I understand it from a practicality standpoint but it's still jarring. With BTW's ability to give us amazing creative control and fantastic machines, using resources from all over the map means ...

Re: Keep chunks active Block / Feature
This is way too "gamey" for me guys. Giving the player the ability to manipulate the load/save system of a game from within the game is a big immersion killer IMO. It's not something I would feel comfortable using as a player, and thus not something I would build into the mod. I think I'd...

Re: Notch once-again proves that he's awesome
Given the games ARE indie and some of them quite good, I'm not sure I understand the vitriol. I'm no fan of EA, but providing additional exposure for the small studios involved can only really be a good thing.

I would be a proponent of this, though I would worry about performance on my MBP.
