Chaotic: I actually ended up heading towards my spawn from village with no crops (it had villagers) and found one that had crops. Didn't find a priest though, so the hunt continues.

It's one direction at the moment. I'm trying to make the tunnel to the nearest nether fortress as well, so I'm just periodically poking my head out of the nether as it were.

I've just reached the point in the tech tree where I need to find a village to progress. I'm starting to get into iron (got a pick, sword, shears and almost a hoe), and I've only received four flint from drops. I try to avoid skeletons until I have armor, so I dont have much in the way of rotted arrows. Maybe I should get an iron shovel to get some more flint.

I've tried to start bow hunting, but it seems you need to get a hopper before you get a economical source of flint. So it looks like cows are off the menu for a little while.

Thanks for posting this, its an excellent guide.

My recommendation is that if you haven't already used up the diamond picks, throw some enchantments on them and use them to gather iron. Save the iron for the armor you need to get blaze rods. Once you have a single blaze rod you can make a hibachi to start recycling your iron.

Every time I come back to BTW, it has removed even more mechanics that I felt were "easy". This mode becomes more awesome with every update.
