Re: 1.2 feature discussion
Maybe if these items had only a few uses left on their endurance bar. It makes sense they'd be heavily damaged if you beat something up to take them. And the Blacksmith was only keeping those old things around as scrap. "You want to wear an old holey pot on your head, be my guest," he says...

Re: 1.2 feature discussion
The wild precursors of chickens were originally domesticated in the jungles of south east Asia, so it makes sense that they'd be everywhere in the jungle.
And forget wolf-chop production, I'm thinking automated companion cube factories.

Re: 1.2 feature discussion
Makes sense. If they are sitting, they poop dung. If they are standing, they poop Babies. Though I was looking forward to automated wolf breeding, and if they won't breed while sitting this isn't an option anymore. Unless the breeding harness works on a wolf to prevent it from following/teleporting ...

The Vines are a complete replacement for ladders. They grow everywhere. They can be farmed. They do everything ladders do an more. You can place them at the top of a shaft or cliff and wait for them to grow down. You can use them in combination with pistons to make ladders that withdraw behind you. ...

Re: 1.2 feature discussion
I like the idea behind it, though. Perhaps if it was dependent on distance from starting location? As in villages near your start would have only "surface" gear like leather armor and stone tools, while a villages 15 maps away has a higher chance of iron, and if you walk for dozen hours in...

If I remember correctly it's a Java Library bug that leads to linux implimentations occasionally having a key "Stick." I have this problem so frequently that I instinctually cycle my move keys whenever I start to drift. I don't even make it a block anymore before my fingers have already pe...

Re: Minecraft Modding API / Multiplayer server
I was thinking about how to limit defection like that. I think a good method might be investment. Meaning you can't just join for free, you have to invest a significant resource to the group. If the cost of this resource is greater than what you could reasonably make off with by defecting, it would ...

Re: Minecraft Modding API / Multiplayer server
I'd like to play on an anarchy server... cooperatively. The current thoughts in meta-ethics, evolutionary biology and game theory is that altruism and cooperation develop out of competitive anarchy because they truly provide an advantage that being a jerk doesn't. I'm feeling a social experiment com...

Re: Minecraft Modding API / Multiplayer server
The thought of playing on a server with BTW, BTB, and my friends makes me extremely happy. Of course, my friends don't have the kind of time to play that I do. What I really need is some sort of harness that prevents them from leaving their computers.....

Re: Ghast traps
THe problem I see with a vertical solution is that the detector and the dispenser would have to be in the same column to work, and you can't do that. Now if your lens ran horizontal, and activated an entire row of vertical arrow launches, that could be wired easily. But that gets into a lot of waste...

Build it and post video. I'd be interested.
If you are using better then buildcraft, also look at lasers. I've built a fun rave floor using those.

I came for the windmill and the half, quarter and eight blocks. I'm a designer. I used to be an architect, but the economy. So I play minecraft to give myself an outlet for architectural urges I can't fill otherwise. Now, There are dozens of Mods I could install that would give me more architectural...

Re: Mechanical Power Transfer System (Wind to Water and back
True, but once you get a waterwheel, you can route power through gearboxes anywhere you need it, so it hardly matters. HCB makes item transport infinitely harder, but is only a minor problem with power. Now, I'd honestly like it if you couldn't turn a gearbox off with redstone power. First off, it w...

Twinkyness aside, this actually gives a decent reason to have that floating sky island base you always dreamed of. Not that you needed a reason, but I did. My modernist architecture background demands that form follow function. The farthest I can get my inner Mies to compromise it to find a function...

I suggest that "Deeper bedrock" or "Mineworld" be an added terrain generation type during world creation, just like normal or superflat. This is currently an underutilized feature of minecraft. I really want there to be more options in that slot. I want single-biome worlds so I c...

Oh I'm with you partially, except I won't start a new world. I built a fully functional vMC base in one location of my world, then decided that's where the skyscraper should go. So I demolished everything and rebuilt the terrain, and moved somewhere else. It was weeks until I got started on the skys...

I use it mining. Put a light source and a lens at the entrance to a long horizontal mining run. I get spot lighting for as far as the lens projects without having to place torches. Then I fill back with cobble as I go and move the lens to the next row. It's as close as I can get to just having a min...

If you decide to go with finding items that hold enchantments, might I suggest they be books? It fits the current theme and I think it's cool to go dungeon-delving to find ancient tomes.

If you can set it up so that there isn't a single, optimal layout for the bookshelves, that'd be great. The designer in me hates that the only arrangement that works is a 5x5x2 room. Hell, I'd be happy if the number of bookshelves that counted stayed the same, but the detection area was about double...
