Re: The BTW vs RP conflict: an historical approach

So hard to know who to believe in these days. I mean, I really didn't expect this BWF thing to devolve into another excuse to publicly bash Eloraam. I hope you're going to include a mention of the very signifigant functional differences between every one of those things you mentioned, and maybe ment...

Re: What is BWF?

This is a bit off the current topic, but it's something that's been on my mind since this mess started, and I gotta get it off my chest. I've always had a bit of a secret hope that BTW might one day naturally return to Forge. Obviously, it's been a long shot and not something I would ever expect to ...

Re: What is BWF?

I just wanted to toss my 2 cents here. I was going to stay out of it completely but my name came up. I have nothing to do with the creation of BWF. I tried it out wit Mattabase on his stream out of curiosity. I'm a huge fan of BTW and quite simply ignore all the drama associated with both it and fo...

And thank you for demonstrating that players will always go for the path of least resistance, even if they're really rather aware that it's really an exploit ;) I said could have, not would have - not like I have any deserts around anyways thanks to this stupid biome mod I wish I hadn't installed. ...

Re: Tekkit v. BTW

You know, I didn't even think about that... died like 5 times in the nether finding a nether fort and trying to set up some kind of blaze farm (never tried that one before, and failed at any rate) - guess I could have looked for a desert instead.

Re: Tekkit v. BTW

Just since it was mentioned, one of the worst parts, imo, about the whole incompatibility thing is not being to use Railcraft with BTW. Railcraft has come a hell of a long way, and is by far my favorite Forge tech-mod now - it's the only one that really has a hint of the BTW style challenge factor, ...

Re: What is BWF?

I just wanted to chime in and say that I find this whole situation disgusting. A wholesale ripoff like this is bad enough, but for Lex to be so publicly putting his face on it is mind blowing to me, as if he's going out of his way to justify everything FC has always said about Forge. They say it's n...

Re: Home - First Glimpses

I will admit to having some fascination with the whole Home thing. One thing that has been on my mind when I think about it is, is your Steve the only one of his kind? Will there be some representation of others in Home? Of course, I'm not talking about some kind of Enderman-like trolls or whatever,...

Maybe I'm just not smart enough to comprehend the subtleties, but I typically just zerg and hope for the best, even in those golden oldies :(

Might have to give DoW another look, though. I bought it years ago but could never get into it for some reason, despite being a Warhammer fan.

Re: Dinnerbone in BTW MCF thread

Same thing is valid for a lot of games.. RTS is dumbed down to mass=win, FPS.. is there anything but CoD anymore? Just out of curiousity, what RTS games do you feel really went beyond that? Having played most of them from Dune 2 (and before it) on, that has pretty much always been it, though of cou...

Re: Dwarf Fortress stole my soul

DF is a great game, especially with a decent graphics pack and the Soundsense from the Lazy Newb pack. But it does tend to get pretty easy once you know how to set up, while the new(ish) evil zone stuff is far too ridiculous to appeal to me to try and beat it. Wish there was more middle ground there...

Re: Even more Thaumcraft 3 goodies!

I think have a bunch of little golems running around carrying your stuff is going to beat the pants off any pipe/tube system out there. Especially if bats are able to carry them around (as Azanor implied he might be working on in a recent post); the cuteness factor alone is going to be through the r...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of November 27th)

On topic: Just to be clear and to make sure I don't come off wrong, despite my low post count here, I am a pretty longtime BTW player. In fact, I played the very first version of the mod that was ever released (or I installed it, at any rate.. there wasn't much to play at the time :) ). So, to cut i...

Re: Thaumcraft 3?!

The amount of resistance and backlash I've been getting out of the Hardcore changes has really hammered that point home for me. Some people get downright rabid when you try and reduce their in-game power. The hardcore changes have quickly become one of my favorite parts of BTW. But if you're bored ...

Re: Thaumcraft 3?!

Just throwing it out there that if you are interested in TC3, check out Slowpoke101's Twitch.tv stream sometime. He's been on a kick about his new modpack or whatever the last couple days, but outside of that, he tends to show a lot of the new stuff in Thaumcraft, including the awesome golems (which...

Re: Another hint? (spoilery, perhaps)

This occult stuff is very interesting. No matter what, Flowerchild definately gets a ton of respect from me for making a coherent and interesting story out of the seemingly random stuff implemented in Minecraft. Not too excited about possible (elemental?) extra dimensions in themselves, as they tend...

Re: The Return To Home: Delayed (a.k.a. Eureka Part III)

It's been a good while since I played BTW, but I do keep my eye on it, and reading this I had a random thought. It seems the 4096 id thing is kind of holding you up a lot, FC. But, there are at least 2 fixes for it that modders have released on the MC forums now. I'm not sure just how super hacky or...

Re: Considering dropping Forge

First, Eloraam. I can certainly understand your sentiments here. I lost a bit of respect for her where she first revealed her tubes or whatever they are called. And I too find her notoriously hard to contact or bounce ideas off of. Second, Forge. While I won't comment on whether Forge is becoming i...

Re: Considering dropping Forge

First off, yes I registered this account to post this. But I just wanted to throw my two cents in as a longtime fan of both RP and BTW. When I first got into RP (mainly just for the ease of being able to run redstone up a wall and be able to have a door that opens from both sides without needing to ...
