Re: Prison Architect Alpha 29

on top of that, given incarcerated prisoners are your primary source of income, I can't see the player being particularly motivated to let them out early, beyond trying to cut down on the incidents that break out due to them being upset over not getting a hearing. Seems like a prime example of mean...

Re: Minecraft Augmented Reality

And I think therein lies the problem with this kind of tech. Until someone develops a VR system small enough so it's not noticeable as being anything other than a normal set of glasses, it's not going to catch on.
People aren't going to walk around in public with these.

And re: abusing the hololens -- I wanted to write an app that creates little elves that walk around in your peripheral vision that disappear if you look at them directly.

Re: Minecraft Augmented Reality

All I want out of hololens is to be able to play a multi-player tabletop wargame, with soldiers actually marching across the table top. If it can do that, I don't care if all the rest of the stuff is really possible. I just want to see my Warhammer 40k army marching across the field.

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Man, the whole survival aspect of the game goes out the window with the whole VR thing.
It's just a convenient lego set to port into AR, but, man, isn't it pretty? I don't imagine that a lot of standard videogame experiences will translate to AR/VR directly.

I don't think people get how big a number a billion dollars is. A $70 million house is a rounding error for him. $70 million for him is like you blowing $40 on a steam sale.

Earlier this year I got one pulled that was pretty badly infected and it was excrutiatingly painful even with gas and a local anaesthetic. It also bled like a mother fucker or hours and hours afterwards.

Re: Prison Architect Alpha 25

there are a couple of interesting mechanics around gangs, I think. One is the whole segregation of prisoners where one guy getting targetted could lead to a whole gang warfare situation, but also wardens and guards in real life have intentionally encouraged gangs as a means of preventing mass action...

Re: Prison Architect Alpha 25

A couple things off the top of my head I'd think about to increase challenge and realism would be:

A) Gangs/factions
B) Corrupt guards.
C) Wrongful death lawsuits.

Simple redstone projects for the console version?

I've been playing on the xbox with my GF who likes using the console and won't play on the PC, and I've been kinda stumped thinking of ideas of a fun project for us to work on with all the redstone we have now. Every idea I have always goes like this: "Oh we could build a... no wait, that's fro...

Microsoft´s seen as a grey people company. Minecraft is loved by children.
There's a MS store at the mall near me. It's always full of kids playing dance central and xbox games. The apple store is filled with older people.

It would be nice if there were some hint about them, but I think we have to be well past the point of expecting realistic physics in minecraft, and you'd still have the problem of updates triggering falls.

If you have a few hundred million dollars, you can buy a nice sized company. Once you start getting into the billions, you have enough money to buy governments.

It has a lot of promise, but I am super skeptical that they will ever get multiplayer working, because of the way he's handled physics and objects. I do like the AI, but I feel like he should gradually introduce them, and keep them in the forests for a few nights, maybe just kind of just out of your...

Always struck me as a particularly unnatural way of measuring movement, all the way back to my table-top game days. Walking zig-zags for example in order to move along the horizontal. I just find it really skews perception and feels very gamey. Hexes don't really map naturally to keyboard controls ...

What concerns me about it is that they already have nine people on the team, including a CEO(!) and they're only asking for 250k. That will get you how much development time from those 9 people? 4 months?

I wonder if you just set the server to drain hunger faster during the daylight or something like that, if it would encourage people to hang around at night to do hunger-draining stuff like mining.

I wouldn't say it's a story driven game, fwiw. It kind of takes the piss out of the whole concept of story driven games and all the marketing bullshit that surrounds them (meaningful choices and so on). Also, there is one path which should be of extreme interest to anyone on this forum, which I will...

Yeah, they deleted everything immediately. Didn't disable first.

And I agree, he had the right to do it. But doing it cost him another 2 or 3 years worth of hosting fees from me, because there is 0 chance i'll spend money hosting someplace that's so cavalier about users data.

I forgot to save my credit card info, and their reminders that I needed to pay my bill went to spam. Instead of just disabling my server, they deleted everything with no way of recovering it. I mean, my fault for not paying my bill, but they'll never get another penny from me. I don't know of any ot...
