Re: Noir's Designs and Videos (Illogically Compact!)
Double-check your wheat module. It's now trying to plant in thin air, and failing before the planter is placed.
I will need to redesign my setup so it uses old-fashioned water flushing in the meanwhile.... or... since the detector can detect a light beam as it's passing by...

Re: Anyone care if I rip out 3D anaglyph mode?
With my eyeballs... yeah, kill that. Not worth it. It's better to integrate Occulus Rift support through OpenGL than muck with that old-age tech.
Hell, most 3D tech now with my eyeballs only makes a screwy 3D display down to 2D with half the brightness. So not worth it.

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.62)
As I've said previously man: wrapping up BTW means dragging vanilla kicking and screaming into being a complete game as well ;) I think it's time to redefine what BTW brings to the table, because it isn't a tech mod anymore. It's just about at the point of total conversion. Not sure whether to ban ...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week Of March 18th)
I would agree with you, but for the past few months every new world I generate has been ether one of two things (using default settings):
An island with but one tree and no other resources.
Or an ocean.
REPEATEDLY.
Me thinks vMC's random number generators are borked.

Spent some time in a separate 1.5 setup. Noticing some lighting bugs in a rather handy mineshaft. Probably need to drop it from "Max" to "Minimum" as reported (Max is new, Min is old)

Graphical glitches in various bits of BTW
Okay, I have to push these up to a bug report. Something happened that makes rendering glitch out. I am combining them as they seem to be related to rendering. First, particles from block breaking are not disappearing. Described here: http://www.sargunster.com/btwforum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6902 S...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
So let me hit this up from an analytical point of view: Block of Redstone: FC says their harmless, and I have to agree. The only thing is that I'm using that piston flip-flop, so it'll compact it down some more. Weighted pressure plates: I can't see a design these need. Maybe if you need to sine wav...

Re: Particles not disappearing...
I spoke to soon. It's baaaaaack! And I was able to make it happen by breaking wood blocks, some something in the particle code must of broke.

I assumed it was Windows only. Ether way, I'm more comfortable using Midnight Commander (my regular go-to file manager) than that.

Re: Particles not disappearing... [FIXED]
FIXED! It wasn't my BTW install. This is what I did to fix the lingering particle problem (from a Linux box; "~" means my home directory). Renamed my ~/.minecraft directory ~/.minecraft-old Launched Minecraft, letting it recreate ~/.minecraft. Opened a new world and played in it for a whi...

Manual (MC Patcher doesn't run in Linux, I'm using Midnight Commander), and I just used a fresh install from archived vanilla like I said before. The only thing in this install is ModLoader and BTW.

Particles not disappearing...
Something that's happening on my BTW install: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/111566/Forum/2013-02-24_21.07.32.png Those particles don't go away. They just shake in place. It's not the install, I just installed from a clean copy the latest Modloader and BTW (4.57), and it's been like this since 4.56. The f...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Saw this off of Reddit, and given that the MoJam is about to finish up (3 games from Mojang, 1 from Wolfire, 4 from others): Jeb_ says 1.5 in early March, 1.6 will have a new launcher. http://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/193mkb/jeb_has_confirmed_early_march_release_for_15/ EDIT: Confirmed by ...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
I think you will be right about Mice. Mojang: Hey, we introduced Mice! This cute mob will run around, and eat your crops. People: Why? Mojang: Well, we wanted to introduce a new mechanic with Cats. Cats eat mice. Now you are going to need to have cats around to keep the mice away from your fields. ...

Weird... I can't recreate the bug where it triggers two blocks (one block between BB and item) away. Strange.BlackCat wrote:Yes, I stated already that detector blocks can trigger buddy blocks from up to a block away.

Re: Buddy Blocks: a BTW P.S.A.
Well... I'm not sure how glitchy this is or if it's something FC already heard of (memory's being fuzzy on this), but the Buddy block does detect changes not only one block away, but two blocks away (thankfully not diagonally). You'll say "wha?" but a previous design of Blackcat here had a...

Analog redstone makes me worry about breaking existing setups... and makes me want to code more java. Analog? Fine. I'll make something that's fully digital, and won't need any additional ores or whatnot.

Re: Possible Steam Linux graphical glitch
Steam's installer goes in /usr/bin, but Valve will not ask for the root password to out-of-distribution update it now. It will just push out newer installer .debs. That said, I'll see if I can push to a stable Nvidia driver in Gentoo and also get Steam running off of the Intel GPU (which is open sou...
