Possible Steam Linux graphical glitch

This is rather odd... but... Running on a updated last week Gentoo install in Linux, have Steam Linux native working on it. Have it active and a window up and running. Latest Oracle Java 1.6 installed, and a freshly installed MC BTW instance. NVidia Geforce 260M, using latest drivers (although they ...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

You may want to ask which version of Java is being used. I remember that they were putting in warnings for those still running Java 5 (aka JDK 1.5). Java 6 (aka JDK 1.6) will be the minimum: http://www.mojang.com/2012/12/minecraft ... ot-12w50a/

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

From the Mojang blog posts: http://www.mojang.com/2012/12/minecraft-snapshot-12w49a/ “What’s this? This doesn’t sound like a redstone update at all!”, you say. “Indeed,” we say. Thing is, we* suddenly decided we wanted to make sure that you have fireworks for New Year’s Eve, so we’re working in seve...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

If I remember correctly, the extended block IDs can't work now because the rendering engine only allows for 8-bit IDs... And the rendering engine is a mess of code being straightened out. By that time the ModAPI will be ready.

2.0 anyone?

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation

Most likely has to do with the Raspberry Pi version (which is based off of the pocket edition) that is coming up. True, and the Pi can't really run vMC and Java at the same time with some resemblance of speed (I've tried, it complains on the server part). So porting the Pocket Edition to the Pi Edi...

FYI (a gotcha) Block dispensers, chickens, and pistons

Following Battosay, I've used his setup to make my own Cow farm. It has the piston pushing out from a block dispenser on a 15 minute timer, and a few sections leading to the slaughter part. I tried to do this with the chickens, this time on the regular 5 min timer, with 5 sections. The block dispens...

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation

I don't really mind the fireworks. They will probably be a "use it once and forget it exists" item, but at least its not some kind of functionality that Mojang can fuck up. (unless it will do something like scaring away nearby mobs, fingers crossed :/ ) Guess what China used fireworks for...

Re: [Spoilers] Hardcore melons!

Glad to hear that the torches work nicely to "itemize" the melons like sand... and that chickens can feed off of them. Although... how does one keep the cluckheads in one place? I keep finding chickens escaping, especially after laying eggs.

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation

I've pulled the video and, as usual, devil in the details. In their development plan for the Mod/Plugin API: Make Minecraft flexible. Some of the work is going into 1.5 now to make it more flexible. Enable plugin loading Work on rest of API PROFIT! In long term, make vanilla MC a plugin. Textures ar...

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation

Relating to the Redstone update, if you continued in the user questions, one of them was making a variable-output solar panel. Jeb_ responded that the light detector will act like one. Which means if they don't change the clock, you can build an edge-trigger reliable 5-min clock. Also, a followup to...

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation

Mojang has ported the Pocket Edition to... the Raspberry Pi . Mojang and Raspberry Pi Foundation release Minecraft: Pi Edition. For those who don't know what the Raspberry Pi is, or even looks like, have a byte of mine . They cost $35 each. The one on the right is the latest version of the Model B (...

If there's rumors of a 1.4.6, then it won't happen until MineCon passes. Which means about three weeks time, since it's happening this weekend in Paris.

Hardcore bucket and cisterns (exploit?)

Question for FC and maybe the rest. If you had water in full vanilla cauldrons (aka cisterns), would moving it with a bucket result in a spring, or HCB fashion water?

Yeah, I searched, I didn't get anywhere.

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of October 23rd)

It would be funny if someone popped in a Mojang bug report demanding that the vanilla "Cauldron" needs to be changed to "cistern" due to FC's reasoning. I'd vote it up.

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation

This isn't the first time voting has been used in this fashion. Second Life (by Linden Labs) uses JIRA as well in this fashion.

Also, since Bugzilla has this capability (if a bit more limited, you get a block of votes to use), Mozilla Firefox and more are in this boat as well.
