Re: Jeb interview on Mod API
Its not like they will run off with the code into the sunset laughing wildly and refusing to work with the community. I find that hard to believe. Yeah, very hard to believe, especially since that's exactly what they are doing right now with Bukkit... </sarcasm> The difference being they are workin...

Re: Jeb interview on Mod API
How is the bukkit people doing the API bad again? Its not like they will run off with the code into the sunset laughing wildly and refusing to work with the community. I find that hard to believe. And if they do a bad job of it there's no way they will keep the job of handling the API. To be honest ...

Re: Jens Snapshots and Other Pro Quality Behavior
Jeb_ already stated on the minecon panel that he was done with the Adventure bits for now and wanted to focus more on building features. I just wonder how the would go about that though? Say Jeb_ wants to add a feature that is covered by an existing mod - like mechanical power, or transport tubes li...

Re: Attempting a Skyrim paladin archetype playthrough
And now I think I can safely say that I accomplished what I wanted to do. I am level 43 now and pretty much as 'finished' with the build's main bits as you can get. The regular melee abilities are at satisfactory levels with block being lowest at 75ish. I have been training alteration at the mage co...

Re: Sometimes, you have to stand for your principles.
Why does everyone have to try and make such a huge deal about something this simple?
Person A doesnt want to do thing B with person C for reason D. Why can't Random Internet Person E just accept it and move on?
Sheesh.

Re: Interesting challenges to use in a new world?
Studying french is loads of fun, because you get really good at asking "where is the train station" and how to exclaim "this is my passport" in a overly excited manner. It also gives you lots of points with people who don't know french because it's still considered a culture lang...

Re: Things you'd expect a useful dog to do?
A dog mod is not complete until they start to eat away at your furniture or wooden blocks unless you attend to them on a regular basis.
You can add that as the Hardcore Doggie mode, like hardcore buckets :P

Re: Attempting a Skyrim paladin archetype playthrough
So a minor update here. I am up to level 29 now without skill grinding. A number of block upgrades and a very particular shield from a daedric questline is making the handling of tougher melee guys and some casters 'easier'. I am still wielding the dawnbreaker but it is becoming apparent that I need...

Re: M!C's News Compilation
Eh, I dont care that much about the trample change. It's a minor convenience thing, really. Besides, fencing in an outdoors farm has always been how it should be. It's a standard practice. Like how when putting up a windmill wheel I actually build a physical windmill, even though for practical reaso...

Re: Attempting a Skyrim paladin archetype playthrough
I actually started the Star of Azura questline with intentions of getting the white star version. I am using (right now) the dawnbreaker artifact that has something like 1600 swings before it runs out. Not using soul trap I have just been keeping full soul gems (not black) and selling empty ones. I ...

This is without the update. I blocked new updates being installed without my say so in steam so I'm still running the one without dragons flying backwards. :)

Re: Attempting a Skyrim paladin archetype playthrough
Level 19 now and things are looking better. I picked up the quick reflexes perk in blocking (slows down time when blocking vs a power attack) and heavy armor is at a respectable level with training sessions with Farkas and a skill necklace. Amusingly enough, the dwarven armor I crafted has been comp...

Re: Attempting a Skyrim paladin archetype playthrough
Yeah I know I could do that but I am trying to avoid the grinding approach this playthrough :)
And hey, buying armor skillups is a good goldsink since this game throws gold at you like crazy.

Re: Attempting a Skyrim paladin archetype playthrough
Yeah that's what I'm finding. I made steel armor for myself and leather armor for Faendal and I'm paying for those choices now with crazy strong mob combos. 2x spriggans + sabre cat ambush.. uhh... yeah reload + turn around. I'll just have to tough it out until I get my block/armor/1hand perks fille...

Re: Attempting a Skyrim paladin archetype playthrough
I suppose I am a bit torn. I like a challenge but it bothers me when their idea of doing a "master" difficulty just boils down to adding a 10x multiplier to npc damage/health etc. Then again, I like that you cant just stumble through content. Maybe it's just last night talking, I was serio...

Re: Attempting a Skyrim paladin archetype playthrough
So the game is currently in punish-player-mode as my paladin is getting rocked back and forth between ridiculously high hp 2hand wielding maniacs and bears, trolls, wolves and just about anything that moves. Amusingly enough, a dragon attack is less dangerous than a roaming bear in the forest, because...

Re: Attempting a Skyrim paladin archetype playthrough
Silly ethics getting in the way of harmless enjoyment. Then I assume that you - like me - was completely dumbstruck with the impossible choice you are given in Mass Effect 2 in regards to the Geth. I know I just sat and stared at the screen for a good 5 minutes. "What? Who? Wh... uhh. How am I...

Re: Attempting a Skyrim paladin archetype playthrough
I'm going to have to disagree with you there on the brotherhood thing. Sure, they have their tenets but they are still a group of murderers.
Just because they are doing the will of Sithis and have a code doesn't make them 'good' in any way.
They're evil, just not chaotic evil.

Attempting a Skyrim paladin archetype playthrough
So.. since my main characters save has been corrupted/glitched out in a way that makes it impossible for me to use followers anymore (and other strange STRANGE behaviour I figure'd I make a go at Master difficulty (with a twist). Play through skyrim as a paladin archetype. I realize that technically...

-snip- Yeah, and the fact that you can't stop progress. You may slow it down, maybe even to a crawl - but you can't completely stop it. So I guess in a way the destination of the future is already set, but its the trip there that is the wiggly bits that can change. Wow, this is getting deep. :P edi...
Re: Skyrim
I do think I figured out a way to use the broken enchanting/alchemy combo. Improving "bad but cool looking" armor and weapons to the point where they rival daedric+ versions. I did this when doing a little shift on my rogue and playing him as a straight up melee type with sword and shield ...

Re: Good Books
Likewise! I loved the way they navigated concepts of past/future by using up-when and down-when. Such a simple yet completely bizarre term.
